I don’t think it does that.

It definitely raises their playoff floor.

But the ceiling automatically assumes those 2 are at full health. To get a higher ceiling you have to have a complimentary 3rd star.

Time will tell if Russ can be that.

Ok, so my statement was a bit out there. In fact, i'm going to use it as one of my 'outlandish' predictions for next season.

But in all honestly, I think they'll be better than average.

That's where Vogel being a defensive coach can hopefully help. It's not that the Lakers don't have guys who can play good to great defense, they just don't have anyone who can do it in more than spurts.

He'll have to design his defenses to rotate guys, hide guys and try to funnel everything to the paint. I think I posted the other day, that it may look like line shifts in hockey sometimes. lol

But no matter what, there are going to be times where they just aren't going to have the defense and will have to just rely on outscoring folks. That'll be good enough against virtually every team in the league not named the Nets.

Even with the increased shooting and offense, they aren't going to have the firepower beat the Nets 4 times out of 7 just trying to outscore them. They're going to have to hope that they can play good defense for long enough spurts to make up the difference.

Both teams healthy, I give them more than a punchers chance vs. the Nets, but not a lot more. Whether that changes one way or the other will be determined by what Vogel comes up with.

They're expected to keep at least one and possibly 2 roster spots available for buyout signings so they can address any needs that arise. I expect that it may be defense that they will looking to "shore up" when the buyout market starts.

I think you guys are going to miss KCP and the Bald Mamba more than you think.

You have to have at least one lockdown perimeter defender when you face Luka, Dame, Book, JA, Mitchell, Curry 3-4 times per Season.

Those guys are going to COOK the Lakers from the outside.

But, you can mostly do the same to them in the paint.

True story. When I was in 4th grade I got suspended 3 days for doing the croch chop (can’t remember why I did it) to a girl. Me being young, I didn’t know what it really ment at the time. When they asked what it ment, I said “ugh, suck it”
