Minus the Cavs, those are pretty sweet. Think I like either Chicago or Brooklyn the best. Miami might be a little ify. I still say they should make the Vice jerseys their permanent jersey/color scheme.

I'm cool with Smart's contract.

His impact is greater than the sum of his statistics... including leadership...

... (but it would be nice if he were a more consistent outside shooter).
Or asked to do it less and be a core distributor instead.

supposedly smart asked Boston to play moe pg

The thing Lakers Fans are forgetting is it wasn’t just Russ vs hield, it was Russ vs schroeder and hield

Nah, I don't think Schroder was coming back unless the Lakers felt they had no other choice.
Agree or if they paid him big money and I don't think that was ever happening especially the way he performed last season.

they had bird rights and could’ve easily beat the Celtics offer. Especially since they weren’t keeping Caruso

I do truly think Hield is a better fit but it doesn't mean they were going to have more success and we will never know. Hield is more than a shooter is very solid offense player all-around, defensively average at best and RW has lost some steam over the years defensively so I don't see a huge difference there. Also, even with Hield they are over the cap but with the RW huge salary it put them even with less to spend closer to the luxury. So maybe they can bring back Caruso if they get Hield, who knows. I do think it is hard to match the competitiveness of RW but Lebron and the Lakers need to have a specific role for him and Vogel is going to have a challenge on his hands, more so than 2 years ago. If there is more natural chemistry there than expected this team can definitely be more dangerous with RW.

Yes they could have offered more than anyone but the point is why would they want to...he wasn't a great fit and didn't play well. I would have kept Caruso and let Shroder go tbh even after acquiring Hield over RW.

Doesn't matter. They offered him an overpay and he turned it down...but that wasn't the issue.

He played inconsistently all season long...that was some of the issue, but could be explained by the whole team never getting a chance to gel because of the injuries.

He became a problem in the locker room...that's something the Lakers have never really tolerated and I'd bet Lebron wasn't happy with it either.

As soon as the stuff about him being a locker room problem started coming out, I think most Lakers fans knew he wasn't coming back unless the Lakers were desperate.

A little different from a player wanting $10M/year to $20-25M/year and apparently Caruso would have cost less bc he would have accepted more from the Lakers so that number is likely less, around $7 or $8M/yr

The Lakers learned last season that, because of Lebron's age and AD's injury history, they need someone who can carry the team if AD and/or Lebron are out for any significant time. Or heck, any time they're out of the game. Hield can carry the offense during games when Lebron and/or AD are resting and for the occasional game if one or both are "load managing". But he can't carry it for any significant stretches if AD and/or Lebron are out with injury.

Also, any time Lebron was out, the offensive production didn't just drop off some (that's to be expected), it fell off a cliff. It cost them some games going down the stretch and they dropped all the way to the play-in game. Imo, their defense is the only reason they didn't drop lower. That's where Vogel showed his value, imo.

Westbrook should be able to prevent that from happening. Hield would have been a great pickup to pair with AD for the future, but I think Westbrook was the better pick for right now.

Yep I've noticed that for two years now so I know they will be just fine in the regular season, but what will it be like in crunch time in the playoffs vs a great team. Moving without the ball and shot selection will be key imo. I think Vogel is a good enough coach where defense will come together to be at least above average imo

what shaneman said.
Russ makes them a better regular season team in terms of load management

they won’t finish 7 again.

but I don’t think this really raises their playoff ceiling when you aren’t worried about how many minutes bron and brow are playing due to resting them all year

Why does the cavs jersey look like they're sponsored by a Vegas casino?

That's the Cavs original logo and colors. But the worst one of them all are Miami's. First it was those dumbass Miami Vice themed uni's and now these.

The Lakers jersey, wasn't that the teams colors when they were in Minneapolis?

That's my biggest concern. The regular season is covered. Unless all 3 are out for significant time, it's hard to see the Lakers dropping out of the top 4 in playoff seeding.

But when it's an elimination game and Westbrook is wanting to play "hero ball"...that's where we'll see if Lebron can rein him in.

This season is going to be a challenge for Vogel's ability to build a defense. They had the #1 defense in the bubble season. Then they got a little worse defensively, lost AD and Lebron...and he still had the #1 defense.

This year, it's almost like the Lakers decided to give him a real challenge. lol

Yeah, Vogel's got guys that can play great defense in spurts and guys that he's going to have to "hide" defensively. Gonna be interesting to see what he comes up with. Part of why I'm glad they brought Dwight back is they now at least have rim protectors with him and AD. They didn't have that last year once AD was out.
