Here is a list of deals the Lakers were potentially planning on to be of use in moving Schroeder. Deals are done. Trading partners disappearing. The Lakers maybe stuck with this guy for another season if he accepts the extension offer the Lakers gave him and he turned down awhile back.

yeah seems like both sides should take that deal now and just work on a trade come dec/Jan

I was suprised by how much the Heat paid Duncan Robinson.
This is what the Athetlic said on Robinson.

Duncan Robinson re-signs with Miami Heat | $90 million over five years:

First and foremost, shooters get paid. That’s what happened with Duncan Robinson. And Duncan Robinson is one of the most prolific shooters we’ve ever seen. The Miami Heat sharpshooter has the second most 3-point attempts per game for his career at 7.8 taken each night. Only Steph Curry (8.6) attempts more deep shots per game in NBA history. Curry makes 43.3 percent of his career 3-pointers. Robinson is at 42.3 percent. His level of shooting is ridiculous. But what happens to these shooters if they can’t end up working in a team defense long-term? Opponents hunt him out. Khris Middleton demolished him. Is $18 million per season on a relatively one-dimensional player going to look good in four years? It’s the same thing Washington will go through with Davis Bertans.

-Caruso :( :( :( I don't understand the Lakers not signing him back. Unless Caruso flat out refused to go back, they could afford to bring him back for the number he ended up with at Chicago. I'd let him walk at anything north of 10 mil, but he's a very good defensive player and the team still needs defensive guards. It sounds like they didn't put up much of a fight to keep him. You let him walk away for 9 mil per for nothing? COME ON

Lakers didn't fight to keep Caruso?

Alex Caruso inked a four-year, $37 million deal with the Chicago Bulls. This is an interesting nugget from The Athletic's Sam Amick on Caruso L.A. exit:

"According to a source with knowledge of the situation, Caruso's camp went back to the Lakers after the Bulls made their offer and were told that there would be no counter."

I think the problem was- if they intend to sign and trade or keep Schroeder, and sign THT- the Caruso's salary in the lux tax would have been more like 30 million than 9 million- even if he was just being paid 9 million. I like Caruso- but can you spend 30M on him?

you knew a deal like this was coming (I had 4 years and 18m per, but close enough.

now to see how he abs Mobley can fit
I like the fact that they are protecting him-

he is what? 19 years old?

before he plays center he needs time in the league, and time to mature and develop. He can absolutely be a versatile 5 at some point in his career- but right now id rather protect him for the next couple years until he bulks up a little bit.

Not only that- but i think encouraging to use his skills to play more on the perimeter- on both sides of the floor- is where the Cavs will get the most out of him. He is absolutely quick enough to guard wings on the outside.

Him and Okoro- especially once they develop a little bit (i mean right now Okoro is 20 and Mobley is 19 I think0- should be a heckuva defensive combo on the perimeter.

I do have to say---

if you are going to have 2 small guards---- having 2 7 footers who are superb defensively- one of who which is basically a gigantic wing from the look of things- is a good way to support them. lol.

plus a condor like wing in okoro

I still think CLE should deal one if not both of their guards and keep this rebuild going.

but I’m not fans of either

It could take some time for Garland but he really is coming on. Sexton is so explosive, efficient and a great scorer but the sad part is you just can't make it as a 2 guard in this league being that small, well at least and win. You can live with a smaller PG like Garland.

I mean look at it from an age standpoint, Garland is 21 when Steph was 21 he was a rookie:

17.5 ppg 5.9 apg .462 fg % .437 3 pt % 4.8 3pa
17.4 ppg 6.1 apg .451 fg % .395 3 pt % 4.9 3pa

Not comparing them and saying Garland will become an amazing shooter like Steph but he has the ability, he is quick and his vision is already evolving. It's probably why the Cavs covet him so much, I think a lot more than Sexton but I think this year will mean everything for Sexton. If he can help the Cavs get to the playoffs, I think we could see a long-term deal. Is that the best for the organization, maybe not but he is player you would want on your team. At least they are trying to surround him with nice defensive players with length to make up for his weakness.

Melo and Rudy Gay sign with the Lakers today. 1 starts at SF next to Janes at PF...the other comes off the bench.

I hope we tell Schroder to kick rocks. Not interested.

Agreed. Even if cheap, the Lakers need more of a 3 point threat at backup, but it depends on who else they can still get. The issue with a S&T with Schroder is that it has to be for at least 3 years. Nobody is going to offer him 3 years at the number he wants. He may walk for a one year prove-it deal somewhere and leave the Lakers with no trade chip value.

I think it would be either Mills or Gay at the MLE. I would take Mills over him easily if that their choice. They need a backup PG

Yeah, there's a big deal being made out of it because he's a fan favorite. He's an energy guy who has a knack for making plays and he played well with Lebron.

I loved watching him play and will miss him being a Laker. But his overall impact isn't worth $30 million dollars.

He reminds me of a taller Brandon Ingram in that, while he's very skilled and those skills will help him, he's a little light in the ass for the NBA game.

Doesn't Chef Michael Symon have a couple of pretty good burger restaurants in Cleveland? Cavs should work out a deal where he eats there for every meal. lol

Symon burgers are not cheap...he better sign that deal first.

The Lakers have become Reunion Central bringing back all these ex-Lakers. They are also getting older. Outside of THT and a few of the bench players, no youngsters (relatively speaking) there. All of Magic's draftees have been traded or shown the door. Should be interesting to see what happens in the next two-to-three years when the Lakers have to begin a rebuild by getting rid of an aging roster and have little draft assets to do it. Are they walking themselves into a corner? Perhaps.
