  • TREVOR STORYSS, COLORADO ROCKIES
    Trevor Story
    RELATED NEWS

According to Robert Murray of FanSided, the Mariners are showing interest in Trevor Story.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network confirms that the Mariners have interest in Story and adds that they are viewing him as a potential answer at third base. For now, the 29-year-old free agent infielder is not expected to sign before the CBA expires on Wednesday night, but things are moving fast across the baseball universe. Seattle has also been connected recently to Kris Bryant.

  • CASEY SADLERRP, SEATTLE MARINERS

Mariners and RHP Casey Sadler avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.025 million contract.

Sadler was terrific when healthy in 2021, registering a 0.67 ERA with 37 strikeouts over 40 1/3 innings. The 31-year-old right-hander will probably operate as a setup man for Seattle in 2022.

if they will not compamise...let them....ROT..............

We have had challenges before with respect to making labor agreements and have overcome those challenges every single time during my tenure. Regrettably, it appears the Players Association came to the bargaining table with a strategy of confrontation over compromise. They never wavered from collectively the most extreme set of proposals in their history, including significant cuts to the revenue-sharing system, a weakening of the competitive balance tax, and shortening the period of time that players play for their teams. All of these changes would make our game less competitive, not more.

there need compramise..on both sides....if one will..not...let it then...rot...

Maybe Jerry surprises us and signs Suzuki by next week? Worth a flyer if around $11M p/y.

Are they allowed to sign during the lockout? Thought any moves during the strike is being a scab and during a lockout MLB doesn’t recognize anything players do.

Unless I read it wrong, you can sign players to minor league deals which Middleton just did with AZ and any player out of the majors for the past year can sign a MLB deal. Not sure about the scab part.

Passan of ESPN:

Is anyone allowed to sign during a lockout?

Yes. All players who were not on a major league roster last season or are not currently among the 1,200 players in the union. Minor league deals can be struck and trades among minor leaguers made, but it's not like teams can sign an elite free agent to a minor league deal with massive bonuses that in normal times would've been their salaries. Beyond the whole on-the-roster-last-year issues, there's a cap on the ceiling of non-roster invitee: $4 million.
