That's a good point and at this point we would be selling low on him, some time in Tacoma could help repair his value a bit.No need to trade him just to trade him. Let him start and play everyday at Tacoma and see what happens. Maybe he catches fire and we can bring him up, maybe trade him during the year, maybe neither and he just plays all year down. None of the things hurt us other than he takes a 40 man spot which should not be a factor.
Now if there is a deal that makes sense for us and the other team, I am totally with you but a rehabbing pitcher with one year of control is a give away in my book.
Yeah he used a similar strategy with Ken Giles.Haha had nothing to do with I like the idea, Jerry just seems to like getting injured guys, much like Graveman.
I'm on the same page with you, but just to play Devil's Advocate, I think @NWinAZ brought up a good point that if we roll with him in AAA and he heats up, it could help his trade value a lot.I'm all for trading Evan White. Guy is trending toward bust status, get something while you can.
I get that thinking of the deal but it is a little different in signing an injured guy or trading a backup catcher and scrub bullpen arms for an injured pitcher (obviously got France too) versus trading a guy who is a top 6 prospect in your organizationYeah he used a similar strategy with Ken Giles.
I think that's what stemmed the thinking behind that trade proposal.
I don't think White should have any impact on anything Mariners in 2022. He is Tacoma for the year unless he goes all Mr. AAA on us. I have said for many of years, too many good players is never a problem. But here's a hypothetical for you: Say we go into the season with France at first and Torrens/Haniger/Lewis using the DH. Do we put France at DH and cross our fingers that White will hit at a major league level? The main reason I say that White should be trade fodder is because I don't know if I want to risk that scenario. There are a ton of variables that could impact this, and a lot of ways the Mariners could get creative, but I think if White could get us anything valuable in the trade market, I think it's something you have to pull the trigger on.
