i did not want to say...i think..he is a 2B............cuz they have ..plans for him....so....but if they where going to trade him..
i still like the.....olson trade ..better..........not renolds....but as far as time goes..renolds has the kind you like to trade for

100% agree. Marte isn't sticking at SS, which means unless he's consistently an elite bat he'll struggle to be better than Reynolds. One thing some don't consider in a scenario like this, either: Marte comes with risk, and Reynolds is already this good, no waiting, hoping.

Another would you?

This is a guy I would absolutely make a move for and give up good assets. Gives us elite D in center and a Bona fide star leadoff bat. It will be pricey but the Pirates are also notoriously stupid. Off the top of my head maybe something like Marte, Williamson, Dunn, Trammell for Reynolds? Maybe not that much but just thinking out loud.

Remember they asked for JRod at the trade deadline so not so sure they would take that big of a discount...but I hope they do. I am kay with the offer mentioned in the article. Lewis just can't be trusted with his knees. Marte could be special or could be the next Jose Lopez.

Schwarber scares me, not gonna lie. I would have been fine with a flyer on him last year but i dont know about paying him a big contract which is what I think he will get. Basically you have to platoon him and his defense is very suspect to put it nicely
Completely agree. I think he would be better than Nelson Cruz would be next year but this is the exact reason I don’t think either fit. It isn’t that defense is the number 1 thing but any OF that they sign IMO outside of offense, is versatility. Either that person is going to have to play CF sometime or play LF/RF and move Kelenic or Haniger to CF. IMO that isn’t a formula for 162 games. I get they almost made the playoffs but that is a statistical anomaly.

If that is the proposed deal then yes and IMO rather easily a yes. With Marte it is so weird, not necessarily a red flag, but everyone agrees he is a top prospect but also everyone agrees he isn’t going to be a SS in the big leagues.

So food for thought is if they do sign Semien and Bryant or a guy like Story and move him to 3B then does Marte even have a spot to play in the next 5 years? I am not advocating for just trading him but depending on this off-season just mathematically he has to come off the untouchable list. Ideally he isn’t involved in a deal for a position player more of he should be the key piece in a deadline deal for an ace.
