Before the crybaby brigade comes in blaming Brad for that, Jimmie blocked late, and when you block late, you get spun. Same thing happened to Jimmie at Talladega.
Let out a good belly laugh as I saw him spinning in the grass. Karma, bitch

Now that is gonna make it tough for the bubble drivers to point in to the playoffs. That came out of nowhere. Never would have guessed Cole Custer would have been the first rookie to get a win, and it not come at Talladega or Daytona.

I don't have anything against Jimmie but anytime something doesn't go his way, certain posters like to come in and cry foul, even when it's clearly his fault like today and Talladega.

I didn't think Harvick could hang on, but did not see that finish coming.
Harvick had no business being near the top 10 today, much less fighting for the win. He can thank Brennan Poole for that top 5 finish.

But really, Austin Dillon, Erik Jones and Tyler Reddick have been swapping the 16th and final playoff spot all season, and now the guy who was 25th in points locks himself in, and Dillon, Jones and Reddick are either gonna need to get a win or hope for a collapse from Jimmie Johnson and William Byron, or none of the 3 will make it.

Reddick snuck in another top 10, but with Custer winning, good runs won't be good enough, he's gonna have to win.

I dont think blocking late mattered. But you can only block so low when a car has their nose inside of you before expecting to be turned. I do agree that one was on Jimmie.

I love having the All Star race midweek at Bristol. Not a fan of the gimmicks they’re going with this year though with the weird number placements and underglow lights on the cars

Am I blanking on someone or is Juan Pablo Montoya the last full time Cup rookie to win a non weather shortened race before Custer?

Justin Haley and Trevor Bayne weren’t full time and Chris Buescher and Joey Logano’s first wins were weather shortened.

Rookies winning used to be pretty common when I was a kid, but it has become rare.

1999- Tony Stewart won 3 races
2000- Dale Jr won 2, Matt Kenseth won 1
2001- Kevin Harvick won 2
2002- Jimmie Johnson won 3 or 4, Ryan Newman won 1
2003- Greg Biffle won 1
2005- Kyle Busch won a couple
2006- Deny Hamlin won 2
2007- JPM won 1

I couldn't remember if he was full time or not.

Here's an odd one for you. How many times have 3 rookies finished in the top 5 of a race?

The only reason I ask is I was at this race and it always stuck in my mind. Both Burtons and Joe Nemechek all running there rookie season.
I think we might see it this year. Reddick has been solid all season and Bell and Custer have been coming on strong lately

Could be. They would need to have a race with a lot of attrition, but that is three drivers that could do it.

They were all in the top 10 this week. I think in a few years this will be looked at as the best rookie class since Johnson/Newman
