I'm not sure how many more games or years of service he needs to earn that NFL pension, but that might be the main motivation now.

I think so plus there's always injuries, a team might make a play for Nathan if they need a backup QB due to guys getting hurt.

An acquaintance of mine was on the Steelers practice squad for 2 seasons (18 and 19). He made about 150k a year.

Due to injuries late in the 2019 season he was promoted to the actual roster and got in a couple games and promptly dropped two very catchable passes and was waived the following week and ended up on the Cowboys practice squad, then he went to the CFL

If I am not mistaken he’s playing for Winnipeg

I would say his main motivation to continue in the NFL is to get a legit shot at playing a game ... because he really hasnt gotten one to date

He got a pretty good contract from Jville last season that had guaranteed money which indeed ended getting him paid more than any cfl starter ... no guaranteed money this season as far as I can see

I get both angles here. that he wants the money (don't we all) and that you never know when you may get that one chance... who knows what happens with #1 and #2 .... injury, accident, arrests (unless its sex assault then they be back right away)

who knows ... maybe the falcons cut him out of camp? He will have to show something in whatever preseason action he may see (like he did last year) and then another team may even give him a look.

He's chasing the dream, I would too if I were in his position. Especially when he knows he can most likely fall back into the CFL and be the highest paid player in the league and probably play there the next 10 years if he wanted to
