The last couple of days we have discussed 4 starting pitchers who couldn't stay healthy for us. Can you imagine what this team could have been the past few years had Holland, Feliz, Ogando and Harrison all stayed healthy and kept pitching the way they did in the rotation prior to their injurirs?

The cost of doing business in baseball just keeps going up. When it gets time to compete again, the Rangers had better be ready to spend much more than they ever have before. They will not be able to only sign their own when they are given home town discounts.

It seems like pitchers break down even more often than position players though.

We once went after the best pitcher available and came close to signing him, but we lost out to another team. Then we turned to the best position player available and signed him instead. It was a good thing we lucked out and didn't get who we wanted or we would have been saddled with Cliff Lee instead of Beltre.

I remember another time we went after the best pitcher available and came away with Chan Ho Park.

Now, when we went after the seventh or eighth best position player in Shin-Soo Choo, we did get burned.
