Something I'm not looking forward too.Oh boy!! Dave and CJ
Time will tell if our pen is burnt and Miller is the only one I have read who is on a limited pitch count. I do think one of the reasons we are not going the opener route is so we can have guys pitch multiple innings as a hedge. My guess is Hamel gets regular work.
To me the biggest beef with management is pitcher development. For example, Marteen has become the darling with the Twins due to some tweaks. We shall see how that plays out. But regardless the outcomes have not favored us.
And he left the game with left elbow tightness. Does not sound goodI beginning to wonder if Mendez will ever be a major league pitcher.
The thing about it is, we have changed up approaches and personnel more than once, and yet it has remained a problem. I have a good feeling that the results are about to change though, if we are patient and don't trade them away for a quick fix for a wildcard berrh. Mendez and Jurado may be the end of the long line of disappointments. I think a lot more successes will be mixed in after those two guys.I think this is spot on.
The last good home grown starter was probably Colby “long ball” Lewis. Holland ended up being a dud.
Darvish was imported from Japan. We gave the Phillies an arm and a leg for a developed “ready to go” ace Cole Hamels. Matt Harrison was a Braves product.
We need to bring in someone who knows how to develop pitching. Other organizations seems to have guys who can. We don’t. I remember people were excited about Luke Jackson coming out of our system a few years ago and I literally had to cover my nose every time he was in the game because he stunk so bad.
