Teams like Memphis and New Orleans, with top rookies and sophomores (Jaren Jackson Jr.), I always give them a chance to be in the playoffs race late in the season.

Most of the time it won't happen, but every now and then they will be good enough to make a push. Lillard made the playoffs his 2nd year.

During Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge's 2nd year, Portland went on a 13 game winning streak in December. They still ended up missing the playoffs, but they were in it until February.

New Orleans has a great balanced roster. Shooting (Redick), playmaking, bigs. The defense with Ball and Holiday will be interesting. It may take some time, but that could be a good perimeter defense.

I wonder if they'll have a better record than the Lakers, during a few days this year.

My prediction is that New Orleans will be in the playoffs mix late in the year, if Williamson is a rookie of the year contender. Memphis may, if Morant is a rookie of the year contender and Jaren Jackson keeps getting better.

Dallas may get passed by some teams.

Out East, I need some time to evaluate the changes in Detroit, Miami, Toronto, and Indiana.
