Already explained the lol.

The only reason Lue was considered was because Lebron likes him. Hence, a contract that was set to end at the same time Lebron's does.
Maybe Lebron likes him because he was successful with him? Apparently Doc Rivers likes him as well.

probably and no

You got me, though. I supplied logic about something that quite likely happened. You countered with something that is extremely unlikely to happen.

Pretty much exactly like you arguing that LeBron was coming back regardless of knowing Love would be joining him.

Ok, but this means they'd be willing to waste the rest of Lebron's years there with a coach they don't like? That gives you faith in Pelinka?

I can't either. If I had to guess, I'd say that the Lakers weren't all that enamored with Lue and it was about Lebron liking him more than the Lakers liking him.

At least that's how it looks when combined with the length of contract they wanted to give him.

I'm thinking if it wasn't for LeBron Lue wouldn't have been on the Lakers coaching radar.

Actually, no, not "pretty much like that"

Lebron was from NE Ohio and even without Love they had Kyrie and the #1 pick in the draft coming aboard.

You think as likely Charlotte wins the title next year than Lebron comes back with no Love? Yes or no.

Because the desperation of Cavs fans to try to pretend their team is relevant is hilarious. However, it's only funny because it's the off season.

De-rail the main thread during the season and you guys won't be posting in it.

But then you’ll be banning him from here while having done exactly what he did, or some bullshit like that.

Wholeheartedly agree....but not a good look for their GM if he was willing to waste Lebron's last years there on a coach he didn't like.

Oh my. Do you have some sort of stipulation with SportsHoopla you are forbidden from admitting your logic is off base?

I never made the claim he did recruit PG (I believe he did, but never stated it as fact). You asked how he could and I told you. He could have called him - stay focused, as this is where you seem to get lost - BEFORE PG agreed to leave.
of course he recruited PG. Does anyone really think that LeBron didnt try and get him to go to LA? I mean this is the most basic of common sense here.

Lebron was also successful with Spoelstra despite trying to get him fired and, if memory serves, the Cavs were doing fine with Blatt.

Yeah, so Lue went from head coach of the Cavs, to turning down the only head coaching job he was offered, to being an assistant.

Lol

I count at least 3 who are making this claim.....a couple I think actually believe it. Others making the claim to argue based on poster not post.

Not sure which is worse.

the whole thing was stupid.

I mean- it just doesnt make any sense. Supposedly the front office was torn between Monty Williams and Lue-- and the front office purposefully dragged their feet so Williams go hired and Lue was out there---- and then they low balled Lue- a coach they obviously would have hired if not for him asking for additional years and money- i mean the deal was reported as done.

On so many levels none of it make sense- its a bunch of piss poor planning and contradiction.

as you said---- why offer him the job- and everyone thought the deal was done- INCLUDING Lue and the Lakers so much so that he has a freaking birthday cake celebrating his hiring by the Lakers- and then it falls apart?

it just is so crazy on so many levels.

Trying to keep your star player happy is smart, so yes.

Or do you think the Cavs would have made Lue their head coach if Lebron didn't want him?

Glad you looped me into the Charlotte stuff, even though I never commented on it, however. I doubt they could win NCAA title next year.

What I think doesn’t compare to what actually happened, and that was he knew Love was coming for Wiggins pick.

My opinion is he doesn’t come back without Love AND knowing that Gilbert sold his soul to him.

Difference is the Lakers have Lebron locked up for 3 more years. Cavs did not. what is Lebron gonna do if they hire a coach he doesn't like, retire?

I believe Lebron probably wanted him, but LA wouldn't hire him if they didn't want him.

In fact, you did comment on it. You agreed with the person who made the Charlotte comment because you are an argue the poster not post guy.

so let's try again....You think as likely Charlotte wins the title next year as it is Lebron comes back with no Love? Yes or no.

I think the Lakers did the right thing in hiring Vogel. LeBron remembers those Pacers teams he coached. I'm thinking had they hired Lue the thought around the league would have been LeBron's the coach & Lue's the sidekick. Not saying that won't happen with Vogel. But at least he's never coached LeBron before.
