The Buss family. The city and brand. Times change, players change, ownership changes, Lakers keep winning.
Are you really trying to say the current Buss' there compare to their father?

I guess Mike Brown = Paul Brown?

In recent years though, the Colts finally started building around Luck better. The defense is better, the O-line is better, the running game is improving, etc.

I read their Vegas win total dropped 3 full games after Luck retired.
That says alot about how they feel about the level of the 2 qbs.

one of the greatest owners in the history of t he league died

and the CBA and nature of the league has changed dramatically

no one could possibly look at the NBA and say the Lakers enjoy NEAR the same amount of advantages they did 20-30 years ago. Its not even close.

I mean- Orlando could not even have afforded to pay Shaq the contract that the Lakers gave him in the 90's. nowadays every single team can afford multiple max contract players because of all of the national TV revenue and revenue sharing. Now, instead of just seeing the Celtics and lakers on TV- you can watch every single game of every single team on TV. When before you had to be in a big market to get huge endorsements - now you can be anywhere- case in point- even over 10 years ago the 2 biggest NBA endorsers were in CLEVELAND AND ORLANDO- something that would have been impossible years ago.

and going from one of the best owners in the history of the sport- to awful ownership surely does not help things

Yet your homegrown star decided to leave Cleveland AGAIN to come to LA and the Lakers are a strong playoff favorite this season. How are those Magic and Cavs doing?

To be fair can we wait and see if they can win a playoff game in the next half decade and pass LA's last 7 seasons

i mean if you go back years and years- then sure- Lakers are WAY more succesful but this is a new NBA. Lakers have a new owner.

this isnt the NBA of the 80's where the Lakers enjoyed humongous advantages over other teams and had a genius owner.

Now, with tons of changes to the NBA, how people can watch every game, salary cap, revenue sharing, billionaire owners, a lot of those advantages have been miitgated

not only that- but you went from having one of the best owners in the history of the sport to having a full fledged idiot running the team.

no sir--- those days where the Lakers enjoyed huge material advantages and a great ownership are long gone.

Not a coincidence that 7 year drought coincided with the death of the great Jerry Buss and the new CBA.

not a coincidence AT ALL.

the NEW NBA...:L

CLEARLY the spin cycle's in full effect...

That comment was just silly.....unless one believes Mike Brown = Paul Brown.

The comment was truthful. The kids have been involved, especially Jeannie, for a long time. They have been here throughout Dr. Jerry's successes. Never said they were deciding factors, and that was not in the original question. Regardless, turnover happens throughout sports and certain franchises keep winning regardless. It's not a mystery.

And certain franchises don't keep winning....like yours the last 7 years.

Would think that would be the drop from most elite QBs to the backup......probably more in many cases.
