an elite player will bring the fans so arena will be full nearly anywhere they go. Lebron chose to play with Spoelstra, Blatt and Walton.
very true. Not like you see players flocking to go play with Popovich, arguably the best coach of all time.

Because Popovich is selective of whom he brings in (and hasn't had much cap space to play with of late).

agree.. top 30 qb in the league I would def. say.

id rather have him than say- Casey Keenum starting for my team....and some other QB's out there

Chances are they’ll upgrade IMO.
I think Fitzpatrick could do well on Colts if Dolphins go with Rosen.
Other options are also out there.
How about Eli for a season?

Butler chose Spoelstra as well. Horford chose Brett Brown. Kyrie/Durant chose Atkinson. I like the guy, but not like he's had a ton of success yet. I guess Kawhi chose Doc (though I'm sure being home was more important).

As far as small private schools, there is no comparison to what Miami accomplished.

Forget about duplicating those days.
They, for sure, have the opportunity to be a top team though.
First step is getting the top recruits in South Florida to stay in South Florida.

They had fallen way behind with training facilities, etc, but that has changed.

It’s a much different campus and area from what many recruits will see on their other visits. It just depends as with everything in life what one is looking for.
Since 2006 the highest Miami has finished in the post season AP poll is 13.

Out of those 13 years they have finished in the top 25 3 times.

13th in 2017

20th in 2016

19th in 2009

in that time frame they have won 2 bowl games. The Russel Athletic Bowl and the MPC Computers Bowl.

in the words of Peter Campbell....."Not Great Bob".

I think Brissett is better than Fitz or Rosen......maybe they find a better backup, though.

I think they're better off with Brissett over either. Fitz is only good for a few games before he implodes. Eli would be decent, but at what cost?

I guess we could bring up an irrelevant past if you'd like. But as it pertains to The Now those more recent Laker titles mean as much as the Browns success in the 50s.

Believe that if it helps you sleep at night. The Lakers continued excellence in the league throughout all of the decades points to continued success. The Cavs, umm no.

Idk.
Maybe a 2nd or 3rd round pick?
Im no Brissett expert.
By memory though, I thought Colts looked pretty bad with him starting.

Who on the Lakers of today played much of a role in their past success?

could be wrong, but I don't think the success of Brown and Collier in the 40s, 50s and 60s did much to help the Browns this millenium....or any other decade (maybe mid-late 80s?)

In recent years though, the Colts finally started building around Luck better. The defense is better, the O-line is better, the running game is improving, etc.

Stats not needed.
I know how bad they’ve been.

Im in the mindset of until they do, they haven’t.
Something about Diaz though, gives me more more optimism then I’ve had over there last several coach choices.

one of the greatest owners in the history of t he league died

and the CBA and nature of the league has changed dramatically

no one could possibly look at the NBA and say the Lakers enjoy NEAR the same amount of advantages they did 20-30 years ago. Its not even close.

I mean- Orlando could not even have afforded to pay Shaq the contract that the Lakers gave him in the 90's. nowadays every single team can afford multiple max contract players because of all of the national TV revenue and revenue sharing. Now, instead of just seeing the Celtics and lakers on TV- you can watch every single game of every single team on TV. When before you had to be in a big market to get huge endorsements - now you can be anywhere- case in point- even over 10 years ago the 2 biggest NBA endorsers were in CLEVELAND AND ORLANDO- something that would have been impossible years ago.

Plus- now every single owner has billions and billions and dollars- well most of them- some of them dont like the family owned clubs that dont have other huge primary businesses.

and going from one of the best owners in the history of the sport- to awful ownership surely does not help things
