They traded for Cousins and then let him walk....rather than try and retain him or get somebody else to improve the team.....

I knew that was coming, but....
Coming off the injury, not knowing time table for return, etc..., I can’t blame them.
It wasn’t like teams were lining up to acquire him.

One of, if not THE best player in the world says he’s interested in signing with your team in free agency and you’re going to tell him to “hurry up or forget it”?

I can see why you’re no GM

Agree, to a certain extent.
After a point, it was apparent that he was waiting for ‘something’.
If you weren’t aware of what the ‘something’ was, it wasn’t you.

And it's not incumbent upon the organization to provide the best workplace they possibly can?

A player signs a contract and they are obligated to do their very best for the organization, but the organization isn't required to do their very best to put together a team that can win?

Sorry, but both have obligations to each other when they both sign the contract.

Just as a player knows that if a team decides that a player isn't living up to his end of the deal, they can trade the player.

The team also knows that if the player decides that the team isn't living up to their end of the deal, he has the right to request a trade.
there is "right to request a trade" ....i mean seriously this is deranged

Technically a player can do anything.
Up until recent years, I don’t recall it ever being much of an issue.

Thats why, my guess is, next CBA, things will be re-addressed.

Don’t get me wrong, he is cool dude but he gave me hard time when I first started posting here as if he was testing me so I like to bust his chops every once in a while. In real he’s one of my favorite posters.

We all do that for the most part.....you gotta earn the right to post on tHoop....it's just part of the initiation process.....

This. And with him, they'd be the faves to win it all....

Plan B was pretty well executed.....much better than last summer when the front office screwed the pooch.

Ham strung how exactly?

Not like the Warriors broke the bank to sign him.

Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo has been invited to next month’s USA Basketball trials in Las Vegas in advance of the FIBA World Cup that opens later next month in China, the South Florida Sun Sentinel has confirmed.

Maybe they just didn’t have TT’s number?

@WiggyRuss care to explain, sir?

Of course a player has the right to request a trade.

But in the end, the decision lies with the team that holds the contract. They will only trade the player if it is in their best interest to do so.

Players can request the team to do a lot of things. And the team can always say no because they are under contract.

A trade request is not breach unless the player refuses to suit up. Anthony Davis did not do that. And as my numbers posted earlier show, he continued to play at an extremely high level in the minutes he was given.

there is nothing in the CBA that says "a player has a right to request a trade" ----- please dont be stupid. Of course they can bitch and whine and complain etc. if they want to- b ut there is no mechanism where they can say "i want to get traded". Thats not how any sports league in the world works.

When did NOLA not try to improve the team?

Wouldn’t you assume they got his input on decisions they were making?

Whether they tried or not isn't the point. They didn't get it done.

A player can try hard too, but if he doesn't produce the results that the the team is looking for, they trade him.

Team Canada looks pretty good if all the available players go. This could be their lineup.

  • G: Jamal Murray (18.2 PPG, Denver)
  • G: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (10.8 PPG, LA Clippers)
  • F: Andrew Wiggins (18.1 PPG, Minnesota)
  • F: Tristan Thompson (10.9 PPG, Cleveland)
  • C: Kelly Olynyk (10.0 PPG, Miami)
With these players coming off the bench:

  • G: RJ Barrett (22.6 PPG, Duke/NCAA)
  • G: Cory Joseph (6.5 PPG, Indiana)
  • G: Dillon Brooks (7.5 PPG, Memphis)
  • F: Dwight Powell (10.6 PPG, Dallas)
  • F: Brandon Clarke (24.1 PPG, Gonzaga/NCAA)
  • F: Chris Boucher (3.3 PPG, Toronto)
  • C: Khem Birch (4.8 PPG, Orlando)
