Might still be too young to make the playoffs next year. Then again, the bottom of the East should be pretty bad. A .500 or under team (40-42 or so) will get that spot and they might be close enough to snag it if every thing breaks right for them. That'd be a 10 to 12 game improvement from where they were last year. That's a fairly steep jump. Not unheard of but still.

We were top 3 in games missed due to injury.....there was more than that.

That doesn't matter. Ask @lebron23james & he'll tell you the Lakers sucked out loud from the moment the season started last year. And LeBron quit on the Lakers by not being 100% after he returned from injury.

seemed obvious. The point of me saying "as a FA destination they should win a title first" was that as a FA destination they should win a title first.

People thinking that the Lakers were actually purposefully tanking are just flat out stupid. You could see they were trying, they just weren't that good at putting a competitive roster together.

Maybe stupid is being in the market of a FA destination city (maybe the top market), allegedly trying to be good, and being awful?

Hell yeah they were tankng. Just look at the evidence.

-LeBron (their bestest player by the way) missed games
-the starting PG missed games
-the back up PG missed games
-the start SF missed games

There could even be more players that missed time during the season but my point is they tanked.

Yep...we've learned Miami and LA are both capable of not trying to suck but still sucking.

so they've got that going for them.

I didn’t say it was better I said it only worked for the NFL, not the players. The set up is what made it a “plausible” option for the players as a consolation considering there’s no guaranteed contracts.

I guess I'm not getting how this isn't anything beyond a horrible option for those tagged. These are guys who, on the open market, would receive megadeals.

Granted it was early in the season but before the injury bug started hitting the Lakers weren't they around 5th or 6th?

Not sure exactly which game LeBron got injured & started missing time. Through 29 games last year they were 18-11 (.621 winning %). Not the best. But better than the not very good you're claiming.

I think a near lock to make playoffs without the injuries (or at least Lebron'), but not sure anyone thinks they were tanking last season.
