Drafting is always key for almost any team outside of the biggest markets in LA and NY....And NY just has terrible management to go with it so that doesnt help lol

I'd say that drafting is key for any team. Every Lakers championship team in my lifetime has had a mix of draft picks, trades and free agent signings on their roster.

Having said that, larger market teams do have a bigger margin for error than smaller market teams because it's easier to lure FA's.

Basically all you're saying is LeBron won the Heat titles, then he won Cleveland one, and now hw's gone from both franchises and they are BOTH irrelevent.

You think the Cavs bottoming out like Philly process will work....maybe it will, but probably not. Because Philly is a place that can bring in FAs when it's time to make the push, and Cleveland is not unless the FA was born there.

It is the only reasonable thing for Cleveland to try, that's clear. Miami doesn't necessarily have to go full Philly Process to get back in the mix. If you asked Vegas to give odds on which team will win a ring first, it's Miami over Cleveland all day. Simple common sense.
My bet would be Miami as well.....truth be told, though, maybe I'm forgetting but cannot think of many elite FAs who have joined Philly from another team.

Gonna need to get lucky (Cavs). Garland will need to be a stud and Sexton needs to progress. Then gonna need to nail a trade or a couple a FA or 2 will have to want to play with them and not be many other options in a year or 2

Or with a commitment better players might have come....like Love did.

Love did not sign there in free agency. He was traded there and then decided to stay.

There is a big difference.

I do think players like George might have been willing to play there and could have grown to like it and stay, as Love did.

But, no prime star ever signed to play with LeBron in Cleveland.

Sexton and Garland could be Irving/Waiters all over again if you think about it.
It is, but if one of them is Irving (but not crazy) I have to think Cavs would take that.

Cavs only got Love, because they won the lottery with a 1.7% chance.

Without that, my guess is LeBron would have put much more effort into finding ways to improve Heat roster, seeing how that played out, and then made a decision.

Or he would have gone somewhere else.

correct.....but he asked Minnesota to trade him here. Think he does that thinking Lebron would leave at any time?

when did the Cavs have money to sign a FA? Only time they did was his first time here and he would not commit when the FAs asked him (Redd comes to mind as one. Ariza to a lesser extent).

Elite FAs?

Moses Malone was definitely one. Different era though.

Philly is one of those mid markets. I give them a good chance to resign their own drafted guys or lure a 3rd their player like Harris.

I thought they had a core in place to make them attractive for a LeBron or Kawhi type player, but the trades they made last year kind of took them out of the mix for that this summer. Philly is the type of market that could lure somebody once they have built a winning culture.

It's sort of fitting that Paul finds himself stuck on a team with no immediate future in contention....and in Oklahoma City of all places. No offense OKC fans.

He won’t be there a game I don’t think.

We have no idea how much Heat value Herro vs drawing a line in the sand.

Heat isnt leaking anything.
Dont believe anything you read or hear.
We’ll find out soon enough.
Not believing anything I read or hear would also include Heat saying they wont move him.

Yeah, I know....moot now.

Holy Shit!!

If they are even a little bit smart about it, they should be able to turn that into something really good in couple of seasons or so.

Provided they manage to grab a couple lotto picks

Stephen A hitting the nail on the head right now. The thunder never had a coach to make the talent play the way they should have.

Of course not.

But also consider that Cleveland had the #1 pick and the rights to Wiggins. There was literally no other team out there that could check all these boxes for Love:

1) had the young assets to make the deal while still having enough left over to be a good team
2) were willing to part with those assets
3) was facing pressure to make the win now move

There weren’t many other viable options for Love. Both teams were highly incentivized to make this trade work, and Love wanted to out. He wanted to be just about anywhere but Minnesota.

If Blake was better, being paired with CP3 should've been a much stronger contender than they ever were. He's empty stats, fools gold IMO. Russ is much the same, but did actually reach the finals with Durant (and I would argue held back Durant to some degree from getting there more often).
somewhat agree, but weren't they held back a couple times because CP was hurt?

Heat came into the league 87-88, Cavs 70-71 ( i think).

Are you for real?
I am. since the Heat came into existence in 88-89 EACH team won 3 playoff series. Sorry that was so hard for you to understand.
