The Mixed Doubles Final is Rajeev Ram and Barbora Krejcikova versus John-Patrick Smith and Astra Sharma. Rajeev is the American representative in this match. Smith and Sharma are both Australian, but also bring SEC Speed to this final. Smith played college tennis at Tennessee while Sharma played at Vanderbilt.

She really should've won in 2 sets. Any time a point got over 3 shots, it was so clear that Osaka had the advantage.

Kvitova got to her, but good thing for Osaka she was able to regroup during the 3rd set and put things away.

It's now after Midnight in Melbourne. Decent crowd on-hand, but not exactly packed like it was earlier.

and if she can stay focused, greatness is definitely in her future, too.

Most years during the AO, there will be one or two nights were I watch the 12am / 12:30 am "night" session, so I'm caught up heading into the next day.

But not this year. So at the start of each evening, I was always catching up on the late night match from the previous "day" at the AO.

So hence I couldn't post much in between this time, because I wasn't caught up.

Disappointed Wawrinka lost to Raonic. This is the best I've seen Wawrinka look in a few years. For the most part, he hasn't looked as good as usual, when he came back from injury in 2017.

When the tourney was winding down, I was rooting for Pliskova, because she's never won it. Or for Kvitova, to see her win somewhere outside of Wimbledon, and to see her win after her home invasion attack.

Congrats to Osaka, she played great all tourney. I don't agree with the broadcasters in calling her a "power" player. But I think she gets great angles on her serve.

That Serena vs. Pliskova was one of the most unusual things I've seen. Funny, it can happen to anyone then.

Tsitsipas looked very good against Federer. I thought he would play better against Rafa, especially since they had a close match last year. But during this SF, he couldn't handle Nadal's ball at all.

I agree I'd pick Nadal in the Finals over Djokovic. I hope they can play a great match like they did at the 2012 AO.

I know Isner usually doesn't do well at the AO, but losing in 4 sets that all went to tiebreaks, is tough.

Between Collins, and CoCo Vandeweghe a few years ago, pretty cool to see an American woman get to the SFs at the AO in recent years.

Andy Murray announced this as his last year. He was down 0 - 2 sets in the first round to Roberto Bautista Agut, but forced a 5th before losing. Would have been cool to see him win this, as he's a 5 time Finalist. He hopes to make it through Wimbledon. I hope he plays the FO, as that's another tourney where he's learned how to play well, and it would be good to see him make a good run.

Cilic and Tomic was decent. Kivitova looks good on the womens side. Her fitness seems much better.

The commentators said that too, during the Finals.

Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz who are both young guys up and coming.

Isner and Johnson are not worth and a damn while Fish retired a few years ago.

We're in big trouble still

isner is still worth a damn! Maybe at other tourneys outside of the AO.

Tiafoe into the quarters!!!!

Dude is becoming my favorite American male play

He caught my eye when he took FED to a 5th set at the USO in 2017. I've been rooting for him since.

Sam Stosur and Shuai Zhang are your Women's Doubles Champions, winning in straight sets. Stosur was the crowd favorite being an Aussie.

That was good to see.

I was actually thinking about all of these things, during the Finals.
