Also agree with second guy. Pretty sure Lebron is confident while he'd prefer home court he wont need it to win. And if they play the Clips at all does it even matter who has home court?
No, won't matter.

All 6 would be Laker home games.

It makes it easier for them to get to the fishing boat after we end their Season.

Yeah, I probably have unrealistic expectations for the kid.

I expected him to be Lebron-lite.

He's probably closer to a oversized Jason Kidd.

Kidd was a max player, NBA Champ and shoe in for the HOF.

Haven't heard anyone complain that Kidd didn't live up to the hype.

Well you weren't crazy...when coming out of H.S. and committing to LSU they were comparing him to Lebron. Except he had no jumpshot (at least other than pickup games and practice).

I agree on the comparison but I don't think he will live up to the hype of Kidd even. We also saw Kidd expand his game, Simmons so far has improved his defense and that's really about it, he is still young but I feel like we say that every year. Still won't shoot (making 2 doesn't say much) outside shots and until he does he won't ever expand his offensive game and it is holding back his potential. Kidd mid to late in his career developed a pretty nice outside shot but it's just weird Simmons won't even shoot...sooo strange.

It's weird.

I'm able to compartmentalize my Lakers hate when it comes to certain players.

The Logo, KAJ, Magic, Shaq, Eddie Jones, Lonzo, LeBron.....

So, as much as I want to win a chip, I won't take pleasure doing it at Lebron's expense.

His NBA legacy is cemented.

But, his Lakers legacy would take a huge hit if the Clippers win on his watch and the Lakers don't.

His best chance to pass Jordan is to win a chip with 3 different teams.

If Kawhi does it first?

The Kobe stans will come for him.

I agree. It's interesting. As you say, his NBA legacy is cemented...

But his Lakers legacy?

If the Lakers don't win a title with him. He will still be appreciated for making them relevant again.

But he'll never be put in the Magic, Kobe, Logo, KAJ group. Ya gotta have a title to be in that group.

And yeah, the Kobe Kids will be pretty rough on him for sure.

Yeah, even with a better record...it'll be a Lakers home game for 7 games. Lol

Yeah. Unless he wakes up one day and decides that he wants to shoot, he will never get to Lebron levels.

But he's already pretty much a perennial All-Star level player. Elite defense. Great ball handler. Great vision. And a match-up nightmare.

Sad.

But, so.

I think they can change things to an extent. But it's going to take time.

The Lakers just have too much of a head start and too much history. Lakers fans having kids and raising them to be Lakers fans. In some families, there are 4 or 5 generations of Lakers fans.

The Clips best chance would have been for the Lakers to continue to be down while the Clips went on a run and won a couple of titles.

They can still establish a bigger niche if they can get a title or 2, especially if they beat the Lakers along the way.

They'll at least be able to get kids and some younger folks who weren't around for the "glory days".

Depends on the overall package.

Tyler Johnson is an expiring contract. Mikal Bridges is a nice prospect.

The Cavs would be gaining a prospect without taking back a bad multi-year contract. I would be absolutely shocked if Cleveland gets a deal better than this without taking back a bad contract.

I completely disagree about the extension value. It isn’t a bad deal considering he signed for well less than max. Teams will want to deal for Love. But they aren’t going to want to give multiple assets in exchange for an injury prone 31 year with 4 years left on his contract.

In 2019, NBA teams value cap flexibility too much to do that.

I bet the The deal is going to end up being something like this:

Bad contract + late 1st + salary filler.

That's still a 1st round pick though. That's what I've been saying all along. That any deal, they'll get some kind of pick back. Someone posted a snippet from an article about different contracts involved and they were talking about what a deal might look like and I said there would definitely be some kind of draft pick component. And then its possible that they might even be able to eek about a bit more from a desperate team that hasn't made the playoffs in years like the Suns or the Kings

Kidd wasn't 6'10 or allergic to jumpers. A whole different level of hype gets involved when the player is oversized for the position. If the Sixers used Simmons like Odom or Draymond (although they shoot 3s also) with a point guard, the expectations might be more down-to-Earth.

Yeah the Sixers should stop focusing on winning games and should instead focus on tamping down the hype about Ben Simmons.

It's great to know NBA teams still share their intel with you.....why do you keep holding back?

when will fans learn. NBA players do not share their intel. could it be true teams are asking for a first WITH Love? sure, but in what world would there be any reason for the Cavs to share that info with a reporter and make Love look bad and diminish his value (if it was true)?

Don’t be an ass.

I am simply stating what I believe Love’s value to be based on his contract and what the market value is likely to be.

Sure, 2 teams could get in a bidding war and drive up the price a bit, but there is a decent chance Love will be dealt soon and 1 of us proven wrong. So not going to do the back and forth on this again.

why would the Cavs do that? Might as well just keep Love if that was their best offer.

Clear cap space, and gain a prospect at the same time.

Pretty clear really.

Real question is why did they extend him and take away much of his trade value?

Strikes me as an emotional move from Gilbert in the wake of LeBron leaving.
