I have done controversial opinions no doubt but you will never NEVER see me comparing defending an athlete for something that happened in a game to the systematic coverup of child molestation.

it’s revolting and it’s the most despicable post I have ever seen on this forum by far.

@TurnUpTheHeat you should be ashamed.

You need to drop this shit. He was comparing the fans mindset in defending those actions.

Might not have been the best comparison, but he didn't compare the actual acts themselves.

Don't even bother responding to because I'll consider it you not dropping it.

If it happened the other way where Rudolph succeeded in getting Garrett's helmet and hit Garrett with it the response would be making fun of Garrett for getting beat up by a QB. don't kid yourself.

Many QBs get hit late and don't try to rip the helmet off the defensive player nor kick him in the nads. .....never mind with all the flags we have seen for late hits Garrett did not get one for the play. could it have been avoided? Yep. Was Garrett at fault and did he go too far? Also yep.

have others committed similar acts, not been told they were criminals and been punished less? also yep.

No.

I would be strongly condemning Rudolph for what amounts to criminal assault.

Like any rational human would.

I knew hypocrite Wiggy would defend Garrett. I at least thought possible you would see reason.

Guess not.

criminal assault?

1. you dont even know what assault is

2. the MOST- ABSOLUTE MOST he could possibly be charged with is a misdemeanor that would amount to absolutely nothing

this is nothing based in fact. purely your bullshit opinion- if even that.

Have you actually watched an NFL football game lately?

Garrett grabbed him shortly after he threw the ball away. That part was fine.

After Garrett wrapped him up, he spun him around and threw him to the ground well after the ball was gone. That is a 15 yard penalty almost every time.

Garrett clubs Rudolph with helmet as fight breaks out

@tlance

please- lets hear what "criminal assault" is--- hurry up- run to wikipedia and explain to me what you think "criminal assault is"

this should be hilarious.

thats a FULL replay.

there is zero chance that Garrett was going to be called for roughing on that play. Its not even a close call.

LOL.

I literally read 3 opinions from legal experts who all said he absolutely could be charged with assault with deadly weapon.

We all know he probably won’t ever be charged.

Be he absolutely could:

The “assault” was a cheap shot outside the scope of play, without consent from Rudolph and with malicious intent from Garrett.

And you call yourself a lawyer?

an assault is not contact. Its apprehension of contact. a battery is actual contact.

you "assault" somene without even touching them. cocking your arm to throw a punch is an assault. pointing a gun at someone is an assault.

hitting someone is a battery- making contact is a battery.

you have to be sitting there on a couch playing with yourself and swallowing loads of horseshit by people that have no clue what they are talking about.

Garret deserves his suspension.

I never said he didn’t. He was an idiot.

my point was three fold

-he was provoked

- it was in the heat of passion

- the harm was minimal if not non existent

Here's the thing...

Him being provoked doesn't matter. Heat of passion doesn't matter. Whether or not Rudolph was hurt only matter in terms of punishment from the league and what retribution Garrett would face in future games (and not just from the Steelers).

In football, guys call each other bitches all the time.

Guys try to rip each others helmets off, all the time.

Quarterbacks try to grow big balls and take on guys they have no business messing with, all the time.

What guys don't do all the time is what Garrett did.

Everything that happened prior to Garrett swinging that helmet happens all the time. Whether it happens in practice during the week, or in a game, or both, those things happen all the time.

The things that don't happen all the time, started with Garrett swinging that helmet. That's a line that is never allowed to be crossed and everyone who has ever played football at pretty much any level, knows it.

There is no justification, there is no "well he started it", there is no excuse.

All your three fold points do is try to minimize and excuse behavior that every player knows, is inexcusable.

Having said that, it's also a moment in time that should not define Garrett's career.

His "indefinite suspension" is really only likely to be for the rest of the season, playoffs included. As you said, it's an appropriate punishment.

He's going to hear it from opposing fans, opponents and probably some of his own teammates when he returns. Hopefully, he'll deal with all of that appropriately because that guy has the potential to be a monster.

i never said there was a "justification"---- there is nothing that ABSOLVES Garrett

however- there are factors that MITIGATE his actions

those factors

-heat of passion

-adequate provocation

-minimal - if non-existence damages

Yes.

Said the engagement part was legal.

The takedown was long after the ball was out.

Not a penalty in 2010. Definitely a penalty in 2019.

I don’t care about the jargon.

It was a criminal act.

Whether it was assault or battery, I could care less.

As I said, not one of those things matters. It's just an attempt to minimize and excuse what is inexcusable.

The 3rd one is all that really matters.

If he hit Rudolph with the crown of the helmet, this would play out totally different.

And even without that, it was a horrendous scene.

Nah.

The dumbasses are the ones making excuses for Garrett.
