Dude, have you not seen the porous defense this kid has in front of him. He's the reason we won this game IMO.

He probably wants number 2 back. But that’s 22. The best thing I saw is what you’re talking about. He had a rough final 5 in the 3rd but dude came out in OT and said no more. I will not be beaten. And he did hold down that front including a straight break away. This experience for him this year is invaluable and hopefully it’s night like tonight that help him grow into a champion.

Yep agreed he wasn't stellar but he made some crazy saves. Only thing helping varly is the posts otherwise they walk in this one. Remember every playoff game this D is learning and will be better.
He wasn't stellar, but the 3rd Isles goal was a total lack of trying. Again Grant and Hagg got punked. Just crazy how they just get pushed around like that.

Like I said to FFF, you also have to factor in all the saves he had to make off of bad turnovers. That's been haunting us this whole series, yet it seems to keep trending lol.

Huge bounce back from Hart in OT. Thought the 2nd goal was a little soft. 3rd goal the Flyers just got outworked in a few places. Overall though, they played well tonight.

G and Jake led the way IMO. They were flying. Happy to see it. They need to set the tone on Thursday as well.

Hopefully Coots is ok.

Grant has been useless. I'd rather Frost' flying around out there learning. If anything he'll get experience for the future those losers like Grant won't be here. Even Bunnamen is a better option.

I mean shouldn’t you actually win something of value before we toss around the word “legend”? And what does that have to do with his current abilities?

You know as well as any of us do, this franchise hasn't won a Cup since '75. Does that mean we haven't had any truly great players since then!? Lol I mean, you can claim that nobody has won anything of value in 45 years...

Lindros, LeClair, Propp, Kerr, Lindbergh, Tocchet, Poulin, Recchi, Brind'Amour, Gagne, Desjardins and Timonen.

If none of the above players are considered Flyer legends, then my bad. Giroux is right there with them.

This is true he did finally step it up. Was a warrior tonight but if he had done this from the start series would be different. Also don't forget about Mark Howe he was awesome. If Kerr wasn't hurt they may have beaten Edmonton...

He is a great player. He’s a top 20-25 Flyer all time. Bobby Clarke is a legend. Bernie Parent is a legend. Mark Howe is a legend. I’m done now. I think maybe we just disagree on the word legend.

Again, though, what does that have to do with his present abilities?

(I’m gonna continue to be a very public dick to Giroux because dude had a hell of a hockey game tonight and I play that mojo. I’m coming harder for him Thursday morning and maybe coax a hatty out of him, haha.)

I'm not disagreeing with you on his selection, but based on your criteria, what did Mark Howe ever win?

He’s the best D Man in Flyers history and he was also seen as a top D Man in the league throughout his career. Lavy called Gee the best player on the planet and then he didn’t really do much of anything since. He had a 2-3 window where he was seen as a top 10 player in the league. I just don’t think that establishes legend. For me Legend is a Mount Rushmore thing for most organizations. Now you catch a franchise like the Yankees, the Lakers, the Celtics, Notre Dame or Alabama football, Duke basketball you may go deeper than 3 or 4 legends.

But the direct answer to your question...he won the right to be there when Gretzky raised two Cups. He didn’t win much of anything but his Flyers were always in the mix.

Thank you...Lol

We're mincing words for fuck sake. A true great and a legend are the same fucking thing to me, but not to you apparently.

We're also talking about our franchise alone, not the game of hockey altogether.

You have to forgive me. I’m an English Language Arts teacher and standardized test prep tutor. Spilling blood over word choice is like the only real skill I possess. Let’s Go Flyers!

I think the future of our franchise is extremely bright, but we have a scarred past. 0-6 in the Cup Finals since 1975. Arguably, we've run into a dynasty every single time. Montreal, NYI, Edmonton, Detroit and Chicago.

I'm only old enough to remember the last two, but it's the same story on replay, again and again.

For now, I think we absolutely need Couturier back, but there's also hope that Giroux, JVR and Niskanen all lighting the lamp for the first time will spark our offense moving forward. Konecny, while he didn't score, did pocket a couple of assists to get himself involved.

We certainly have something going with the low to high action, shots from the point and deflections in front.

Obviously though, there's a lot riding on the health of Couturier and Barzal for both teams.

Perhaps we should just play for overtime in these next two games...Lol
