We have zero goals in the 2nd or 3rd periods of this series.

That needs to change in a hurry.

Its a pretty sad state of affairs when Braun and Hagg have been our best defense pair of the series.

That needs to change in a hurry.

Technically, we scored one in the 2nd last night and one in the 3rd but I agree with the sentiment. Isles have gotten stronger as the game has gone on while the Flyers have faded.

They also haven’t been asked to skate much against Barzel’s line. That line has been the biggest difference in the series. They have impact with nearly every shift and we haven’t made them play in their own end much.

They stole this page straight from our playbook.

Everyone has their role and Hagg and Braun are playing theirs better than the others.

I think Trotz is a great coach but I don’t want to be caught up in this moment. This is year 1 of a new coach and a new GM. They’re going to have a ton of young assets where they can determine who fits their system best and I trust them to make good decisions. I think part of the problem has been a lack of continuity in coaches. We see this often in hockey where coaches can be successful for 2-3 seasons and then one bad season they get shit canned. I don’t want to make a change until we’ve given this group a chance. I’ve already said this but Gee has to go. They apparently aren’t willing to take the C from him. He doesn’t fit anymore and is an 8 million dollar cap hit. They should buy him out now. They need new on ice leadership. Gee isn’t that guy, in my humble opinion.

IMHO - I think of anything, AV has over coached so far in the playoffs. Although I believe in “you have to earn it every day” there is also something to be said about “ I believe in you”. Juggling the lines, sitting players, calling out players in the press - can make anyone play tight. The number of misplayed pucks and outright whiffs tells me they are playing not to make mistakes.

AV is a good coach - has done a lot to make this team a contender vs pretender.

what is it or who? I know how you feel about JvR, but it's not just him. Who would you trade or want to bring in if available? Would you trade Gee to bring in a bigger trade?

G isn’t going anywhere, neither is Voracek. Have to figure out how to make the most of the skills they have, and don’t expect them to do things they can’t. G is not the go to Captain to carry a team.

Somebody needs to be dropped that’s a big salary guy that isn’t worth the number. JVR Gee and Jake are all candidates. In my opinion, I think that guy should be Gee.

You know what, I’m taking back my last response. I was working from some bad info. The idea of the Covid related buy outs was discussed but it looks like it won’t come to fruition. You’re right. The Flyers are stuck with G JVR and Jake until their contracts expire. My bad.

Was thinking this exact thought last night.

I think the Isles are exposing a few things with the Flyers, one of them is that the young dmen, Sanheim and Myers in particular, need to hit the gym. They're tall guys, but the Isles are dominating them in front of the net and on the boards.

First - JvR (was a one dimensional player of some value and now his dimension has gone the way of the dodo bird)
Second - G (high skill regular season guy that racks up points in bunches, and a lot of the time they’re meaningless. This is where overall stats fail to tell the story)
Third - Jake ( Love him, just too slow and unimaginative as a first liner in the league today )

Not unless the Kraken take one of them, fingers crossed.

Adding on the subject of over coaching we have Raffl as a healthy scratch and JVR playing. :gaah::gaah::gaah:

I agree with this. AV had a fantastic regular season, but I think he's over thinking the playoffs a bit.

I have too much time on my hands today and I’m dwelling too much on this shit after a lost weekend of games. But what if we don’t beat the Lightning and get the number one seed? We probably have an easier matchup with Columbus than Montreal and then we would be catching a Bruins squad we dominated with no Tukka Rask. Anyway, it’s easy to get into stinkin thinkin over being down 3-1 and pretty much outclassed. Many of us said it prior to the series, the Isles may not be a great team but system and personnel are just not a great match up for us. Oh well, hindsight is always 20/20 but who knew at the time that there might actually be a benefit to losing the TB game in the round robin?
