Not if he demands to be a starter.

True, but maybe still then.

They already have like 4 players with similar skill sets to Wade. Perhaps they aren't quite as good, but they need somebody who can catch and shoot. Melo can at least do that.

Well that was the problem with Melo last year. He couldn't shoot. Could have been an aberration but still a risky decision to pick him up.

I've disliked the Lakers for wayyyyyy longer than the draft lottery. Honestly I couldn't care less about draft lotteries. However I hate the Celtics vastly more than the Lakers. I merely dislike the Lakers.

But where exactly did I offer anything approaching a criticism of the Lakers here? Saying that we shouldn't overstate how much credit Magic is hating on the Lakers now?

Seems to me that you and Shaqdaddy are constantly looking for reasons to call people haters.

That last sentence was off. I was confusing TJ with Shaqdaddy and that wasn't fair to TJ. Shaqdaddy is in her own world where everyone blindly hates the Lakers.

Yeah, I think a lot of that was timing/chemistry with Russ. Carmelo Anthony can still make shots. I would feel comfortable betting on that. With a better playmaker like LeBron feeding him, he would do just fine.

I hear the Cavs are looking to move Korver. He has a contract for $7.5 million this season. In 2019-2020, he also has a $7.5 million deal with $3.4 million guaranteed.

–via Cleveland Plain Dealer

Should be interesting to see what teams are willing to offer for him. He has value certainly but how much are teams willing to give up for a spot up shooter? Bellinelli got 6 million on the open market. So 7.5 is probably about right for him. But hard to imagine teams giving up more than a mid to late 2nd for him.

Bellinelli has far more value than a spot-up shooter, if a team understand this.
Compared to the other usual suspects, he has an uncanny ability to get to the free throw line.

His free throw attempt rate is 60% higher than Korver's for example which very quietly more than makes up for 3pt%.

Advanced Analytic stuff really shows a hidden true value.
Smart GMS should look at Sabermetric FT rates for their spot-up shooters

He is my favorite mid-level free agent and I was ecstatic that SA brought him back.

He's terrible defensively. He can't create his own shot. His handle is average. And his movement is focused solely on getting an open perimeter shot. He's a prototypical spot up shooter. That he gets to the stripe more frequently is an added bonus but he is who he is.

LeBron James 'King of LA' Mural Vandalized After Fan Offers Money to Alter It

Apparently not everyone in Los Angeles is excited about the arrival of LeBron James after Klutch Sports Group announced the four-time MVP agreed to a four-year deal with the storied franchise.

As Basketball Within Borders shared on Instagram, "A LeBron-hating Laker fanatic put out a contract to get this mural of #LeBronJames vandalized today in California. Dude need to get extra security around town. The hate is real."

Last Word Hoops shared images of the mural and the vandalism, which read in part "we don't want you" and "3-6" in a reference to James' record in the NBA Finals:

3 & D guys are usually starters like Danny Green or Trevor Ariza types. Those are diffrent types of players.
Their defensive stamina can let them play starter minutes. They are not the spot up shooter roles.

We we discussing the relative value of instant offense bench 3-point spot up shooters and the apparent market.
I dont think the relative value of spot-up shooters is examined as closely as needed.

IMO, those spot-up shooters who can get to the line are worth almost twice as much.
Many GMs. dont even pay attention to it. They focus entirely on the 3 point numbers which is a mistake.
