Wait what? Minny didn't have the 3rd best record in the WC last season. They barely beat Denver for the 8th seed in the last game of the reg season.

Butler missed 20+ games last year. When healthy they had the 3rd best record in the WC.

So on papers the Lakers are still only a 45-47 win team?
Yes. They gotta get some shooters- more specifically a PG that can shoot. Between Rondo & Ball other guards will be able to ALWAYS leave them to double/help defend the others.

Rockets gotta find that player that replaces Ariza by bringing equal or better value - on BOTH ends of the court. And if they somehow lose Capela they are knocked back down to tier 2 IMO.
If they keep Luc and sign Melo, they can minimize his departure.

Both those guys are only good on one end of the court.

The way they front loaded the contract, they are hoping the Bulls don't match.

I think they will because they can't have lost Butler for Chris Dunn.
Lauri was part of the trade too and he looks pretty good.

Plus we also must consider that he is now playing in the west where he is playing these team 3 or 4X during the season
THIS will be the difference between winning 50+ games in EC vs. WC.

I'm not sure you're the best judge of talent considering you think Melo was OKC's 3rd best player last season.
Well in all fairness they did market them as the Big 3. In hindsight no he wasn't their 3rd best player. But the expectation was he would be based on his past. They were clearly wrong.

I'm not sure how many games they will win.

But, on Paper.....

Warriors, Rockets, Timberpups, OKC are better.

But, that's the thing about paper.

Paper doesn't play the games.

Look where the Thunder and Minny finished the Season.

You have to build chemistry.

That's not always immediate.....especially when you are depending on a bunch of youngsters and vets you signed can't shoot.

Melo had pretty clearly fallen off the year before. He's just not good anymore.

Lol, that last bit isn't even close to being true
Not all of the Cavs players are trash.

Korver, Love are shooters and they barely made a difference against the fire power of the Warriors.

Lance and Rondo probably won't fare any better on offense. But, maybe on defense.

LeBron is the pg.

Ariza is replaceable.

Capela would hurt a lot. I don't think they will lose him this year. I think he signs the tender and waits till next year for a big pay day.
Yea, Ariza is replaceable, but who is out there that they will likely get based on their cap issues? I think Capela should just shut up & play. It isn't like he had an unbelievable season or anything.

oh I'm sorry, you were talking about for a couple of months out of the season? Yet you completely glossed over the fact that they almost lost to Denver in what turned out to be the most important game of their season. lol

Possibly. But Melo shot terribly last season so that is a mighty BIG if.

.

The Cavs minus LeBron were statistically one of the worst teams in the league.

Heck even when Kyrie was taking over a few seasons ago they were bad.

Yeah...Ariza was more of a factor defensively.

Luc can give them some of that. PJ Tucker too.

Melo should do fine standing in the corner and launching at will....lol

I didn't gloss over that fact. It's well within reason to think that had Butler not missed significant time, they wouldn't have needed to win the last game of the season, and at worst probably would have been a top 4 seed. Like I said with Butler they had the 3rd best record in the WC.

I couldn't agree more. But they were marketing that OKC team as having a BIG 3, once they signed Melo. So my point is I understand where that narrative came from.

I don't see OKC being better. I just don't.

LeBron is the pg.
In seasons past. Supposedly he's planning to play off the ball in LA.
