I remember reading that the 2004 Red Sox played an 80 game stretch at exactly .500. They finished up OK.

That's baseball, even for very good teams, most of the time. .500 ball accentuated by a few winning streaks.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Yankees are calling up Clint Frazier to beef up their lineup, according to Baseball America's Josh Norris.

The Yankees are set to face left-hander Gio Gonzalez at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at Nationals Park.

Why: Gonzalez is a lefty. Starting left fielder Brett Gardner is hitting .188 with a .465 OPS vs. lefties this season. Frazier has had just 14 plate appearances vs. southpaws this season, but last year he hit .276 with a .822 OPS against them in 119 plate appearances. It's highly likely that Frazier will start in left field over Gardner.

Didn't consider that-I hope this is what they do. Judge did get a start in CF earlier this year, so definitely a possibility. Yes, he hits 450 ft bombs, but he's also a hell of an athlete.

Reading that Frazier played CF almost exclusively during his rehab, so we will see. Clearly, their best defense is one that doesn't have Stanton in LF.


Two hottest teams in baseball square off. Nats have won 13 of their last 15, Yanks 19 of 22. With Scherzer looming tomorrow, Yanks need to get this one.
