More than that- I think LeBron knows its not in his best interest to go balls out in October in a league where the playoffs do not start until May. There is no need to. It is a LONG season and nothing is more important to the Lakers than LeBron's health. LeBron knows his body better than anyone and pushing it in October is not smart.I was listening to a sports talk show and they were actually criticizing Lebron because he didn't take over these 2 games, which were winnable if he had.
While it would have been nice to win the games, I like that Lebron hung back and let the other guys try to figure it out. It kind of reminded of how Phil would refuse to call timeouts when virtually every other coach in the NBA would have, because he preferred to let them sort it out.
It may have cost them these first 2 games. But I think it will pay dividends later in the season.
