I hope you're right, because I think a player like Butler is exactly what they were missing.
I didn't understand why Brown would rest him against an opponent that he typically owns. It would be like Kerr not letting Dray play against Blake. It was odd to see & I think it made almost cost them the game.
Interesting point about Ingram being out. Wonder if that is what brought all of this Ariza trade talk about. The 3rd team is to take KCP and give a PG in return. Ariza isn't the perfect addition, but he would be welcome. He would have to play out of position a bit at the 2 though, with Ingram (when back healthy) and Kuzma occupying the 3 most of the game. KCP and Ariza are shooting about the same right now, but Ariza brings rebounding and passing as well.
And this is why I think the Lakers may just be trying to push the bidding up. They don't want Ariza going back to the Rockets or some other team fighting for a playoff spot in the West.
One thing that is certain is that Ariza is not the supplemental piece that Phoenix expected to add. His eventual departure (he can be officially traded on December 15) may yield the Suns a future asset, but reports Monday indicated that the team wants to receive players who can “play now.” Why? This is a team that’s on pace to win just 12 games, and the only way to start making their way out of the doldrums is by building for the future. No more Trevor Arizas. That Phoenix refuses to be practical about building for tomorrow seems to be tied to the fact that their owner, Robert Sarver, wants to win today. If such directive is coming from the top of the organization, then the Suns taking Ayton over Doncic sums up their ugly situation perfectly. It’s tough to say that drafting Doncic would have solved all of Phoenix’s problems, but it is ironic that, for a team that seems to be preoccupied with winning as soon as possible and players who can “play now,” they may have passed on the one player that’s already producing wins.
With all due respect, Doctors are not always right. I had a situation one year where my doctor referred my mother to a hear specialist who gave an opinion that resulted in my doctor wanting to perform an exploratory heart surgery. I balked and requested a second opinion which resulted in a specialists that nixed the idea. The idea in my head of them wanting to do something like that on my 85 year old mother - had me in arms. My point is that while the doctors for the team said Leonard was healthy, the other doctors may have found something to make them think otherwise - you weren't there and you don't know that Leonard was able to play.
Could Jammin' Jimmer Fredette help your Cavs?
I actually think Lonzo Ball has been a huge disappointment when you consider that last year they was calling him the second coming of Christ. I am also thinking that both Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram could easily be trade bait soon?
If the Lakers could get and sign Trevor Ariza to play with Lebron for the next several years - He would really be a nice fit. If you could lets say get Leonard and Butler in return for dumping Ariza and Leonard - the Lakers would really have a good team in my opinion - and yes I know that is a fantasy

I mean my gawd. If we the fans could see this coming it makes you wonder what drug the FO was on when they let him walk instead of paying him. Yet, they caved to Capela. Mind boggling.Makes sense. I'm sure the Rockets have figured out by now that letting Ariza go was a mistake, so I'd imagine they'd like to have him back if they can get him.
I think Grunfeld learned some magic voodoo trick from his time with the Knicks where GMs can do bafflingly stupid things and still keep their jobs in perpetuity.
How does pissing away $20 get you rich?
Yes, that is the other possibility. I've said this from the beginning. I don't think he's fully healthy. But, on the flip side when he plays he looks great.
So my problem with this situation is really why are they resting him so early in the season? I get that they don't want to wear him down, but goodness they were resting him the first week of the reg season. It just seemed strange.
