Given the nature of the team (minus the snitching business) you'd have to think the Lakers would take Russell over Ball.

The irony

The only reason I would disagree is because trading Russell got them Kuzma. Otherwise, I completely agree

Lmfao @ your post and the line under your screen name!

Obviously D'Angelo is my boy (and yes I wanted to open hand slap him for hating) but I'm def mad they banished him to the Nets. Hopefully they can add a superstar soon.

And yeah thanks....I couldn't think of anything lol

Good call. The definitely crushed it on that pick....but didn't they have like the 29/30 too? Guess he could have been taken.

Just sucked for dude to be part of a salary dump basically (Mozgov) two years after his drafting....then got injured last year.

Ah well I'm getting off point. Hopefully Lonzo can figure his game out at his next stop

Lmao @ Flynn.

You will never get over that post, huh?

The real funny thing is that every word of that post was spot on.

But Wiggy sure will cling to the few words that fit his narrative best.

I was so disappointed when the Lakers drafted Russell. I wasn't able to root for him until he got traded.

He doesn't seem to be slobbering over Dan Boy's deep pockets as much anymore. Is TT still better than Whiteside? Just checking.

Yeah, they ate what?

17 million for what could possibly turn into two 2nd round picks YEARS from now?

Folks have been paying sub 5 mil for 2nd rounders when buying into the draft.

So, that's some hefty inflation.

If they get a 1st, it's on par with the Mosgov deal and looks much better.

he basically just threw done 18M for a first and 2nd rounder...kind of.....because i think that Henson and Delly will have some value next year as expirings...esp. Henson for a team that could use a defensive big once he is back healthy.

Yes and no. If the idea were to bring D-Lo back to play the 2 guard, I would agree. But he was trying to play point and it wasn't working. When Walton played him at the 2 late in his last season with the Lakers, he had his best stretch of games as a Laker.

I literally went from "we need to get rid of this guy" to "he might be worth keeping".

I think that was the concern going in...we knew he can't guard a Chris Paul type regularly and his overall profile is a tweener type. But for a 2 he's well above average in playmaking so his jumper was the key.

"I think there is also a fairly decent chance Sexton becomes a Johnny Flynn level bust."

Johhny Flynn in his ENTIRE NBA Career- 11 games of 20 points or more

Colin Sexton in less than 2 months in the NBA- 8 games of 20 points or more

Sexton has talent, but what made me think he would be a great pick his is work ethic and leadership and how hard he plays. Those 3 things- work ethic, leadership and playing hard every minute of every game makes a HUGE difference as so many guys dont do those things.

Sexton will be a very good player because of how hard he works.

A 19 year old kid, with limited teammates, playing as efficient as he is, is just unreal.

Kyrie Irving had an UNREAL rookie year and great efficiency. Sexton is close to that at this point.

Sexton is at just under 46% from the field. You just dont see that from young guards in the NBA. It just doesnt really happen. I would have been very very happy with 41-42% from him considering his age, and the lack of attention his teammates demand.

Agree. The other part of the problem was that he is a score first player and with the Lakers system, a score first pg doesn't work.

So, he often seemed confused in trying to decide when to look for his shot and when to set up his teammates. The end result was an offense than ran in fits and starts most of the time.

But when Luke moved him to the 2 spot...he looked much more confident and like a different player.

All in all though, from what I heard out here, some of his teammates were having issues with trusting him after the whole snitch thing. So, end of the day, it was probably best for the Lakers and him that he was moved.

Henson and Delly could both be dealt though- esp. Henson once he is healthy for an asset or two whether this season at the deadline or next.

Next year, some team needing a big man that can play some D will take henson and give up an asset if the Cavs want to take back some salary

As far as "bad contracts" go, Delly and Henson arent in the top 30 in the NBA. Prob even less than that.
