The 14th team in the west (Jazz) are closer to the #1 spot (5 games back) than they are to the #15 spot (6.5 games ahead of the Suns)
Suns are the only truly bad team in the West it looks like. Any of the other 14 could conceivably make the playoffs

I'd say the playoff committee got it right. Playoff expansion is dumb. Pretty soon people are going to start talking about expanding from 8 to 16, to eventually what's done in college basketball (not even possible).

People complaining about UGA being left out need to put things in perspective. The CFB playoff is there to determine who's the #1 team in the nation outright (better than the BCS system). UGA is without a doubt a top 4 team in the country, but we know they're not the best. They had their chance against Bama, and failed.

I disagree. The biggest problem, imo, is that we have 5 major conferences and only 4 playoff spots. So one conference champion gets left out no matter what. Some years (like last year) 2 get left out and had the committee gone with UGA, we would have had 3 left out this year.

By expanding to 8 (I don't see it ever going to 16) you incorporate all 5 conference champs and leave room for 3 "at large" teams. So you could give UGA a shot and also maybe give a shot to a team like UCF.

The problem with the logic of not expanding is in your "UGA is without a doubt a top 4 team in the country" statement.

If the point is to determine the #1 team in the country and you have a 4 team playoff, but a team that is a top 4 team is left out...you aren't deciding who's number 1 by playing off the 4 best teams.

I love the 8 or even 16 team format....

Baker got tricked and played like shit in the first half- but he put it behind him and moved on

One of the greatest things that a qb can have is a short memory. Even in college, you could tell that Baker had that.

I wouldn't want to go to 16, that's too many, imo. 6 would be okay, but 8 seems like the right number. If you go to 16, you're looking at pretty much all teams that finished 2nd in their conference and even 3rd place teams and/or more mid-majors getting in.

Winning a conference (especially a P5 conference) needs to mean something. If you have pretty much the top 2 and maybe even 3 teams in a conference get in, then winning the conference doesn't mean much anymore.

Fred Hoiberg canned. That was inevitable. He's a good guy and a good coach at the amateur level. Just not a good situation in Chicago. I don't expect he'll get HC'ing offers at the pro level again.

the Cavs would prob ask for picks more than young players--- but with the Knicks i would have interest in Knox without a doubt....with the Nets they have Jaret Allen, LeVert, Dinwiddie- all who look to have solid futures and look like good players.

The Nets may make the playoffs- so say they have like the 16th pick in the draft or something----- if the Cavs say-- sure- we will take Crabbe so you have the cap space to go out and get 2 max level free agents do the Nets say yes? Its certainly possible. The Knicks arent giving up their lotto pick- but maybe they give up Knox. There are plenty of other teams trying to open up cap room as well that could give up young players and or picks to get off of the right contracts.

The CAvs did this last time too they rebuilt--- they got a lotto pick to take Baron Davis' bad contract from the Clippers, they got a 1st rounder from Memphis to take Ellington and Speights contract, they got a 1st rounder and a pick swap from the Lakers for 3 months of Ramon Sessions and taking back Luke Waltons horrendous contract. Its a way for a team that wants to rev. up their rebuild to do it more quickly.

Nets don't need any help with contracts, and they sure as hell aren't giving up Allen. I doubt the Knicks give up Knox either. They aren't likely to get lottery picks from rebuilding teams, more like late 1sts from playoff teams.

The other Division I does it....works out pretty well....

Do away with the Conference title games and limit teams to 10-11 games and it would be pretty cool IMO. But, I'm old school.....

First of all, you can't base things on conference champions when you have Notre Dame independent, and you can't base things on conference championships when not all conferences hold such games.

UGA got their shot this weekend. They blew it. Let's not forget their other loss on their record either. You could claim that some 3 or 4 loss team that lost all those games early is a top 4 team RIGHT NOW, but that will never get them in the mix unless everyone else loses that many games. Early losses count, and so does your strength of schedule. These supposed 5 major conferences aren't on equal ground either, and the value of each conference championship is not either (where strength of schedule comes into play).

Changing from 4 teams to 8 teams just moves the complaining teams from 5 and 6 to 9 and 10. Let's be honest here, there are 3 deserving teams this year and a few vying for the right to lose to Alabama. Georgia already had their turn, so now it's the Sooners' chance.

The other divisions don't have bowl games. The the 4 team playoff already waters down a couple of major bowls.

I want to see an 8 team system and I do think there are too many bowl and we need to get rid of some.

The problem with a 16 team system, imo, is that it would all but end the major bowls and those aren't the ones we want to get rid of.

I'd like to see the conferences get rid of the CCG's, but I think that ship has sailed with conference expansion.

No Luka (hip)... bench stepped up (again).

Huge play by DSJ at the end.
Good Mavs win.

Congrats...

This has nothing to do with with the game.

But, what's up with your Superfan?

NBA Players need to have thicker skin.

But, Wtf was it necessary to insult someone's Mother?

Don Knobler, a longtime Mavs courtside season-ticket holder known for his flamboyant wardrobe, told ESPN that he had a testy exchange with Beverley earlier in the game but not immediately before the ejection. According to Knobler, he did not use profanity, but he admitted to insulting Beverley’s mother.

As big a troll as he is on the court, Pat has to be smart enough to not take the bait.

Patrick Beverley accused a Dallas Mavericks fan sitting courtside of cursing his mother on Sunday, prompting the Los Angeles Clippers guard to throw a crisp bounce pass at the man during a break in play early in the fourth quarter, resulting in his ejection. Beverley said the fan twice told him, “F— your mother,” and that led to his reaction and ejection with 9:10 remaining in the Clippers’ 114-100 loss.

“I told the referee, I told the security,” Beverley told reporters. “I mean, I’ve never gotten ejected out of a game since I’ve been in the NBA. You know, I play hard, I play within the lines, of course. I play within the rules, of course. I’ve never been ejected in my career in the NBA, but I’m a grown man. I have morals. Of course, God is first, family is second for me, and I stand firmly behind that. “I just, I can accept the ‘F— you, Beverley,’ the ‘F— you, Pat,’ but out of the lines of my mother, anybody who knows me, man, knows I’m a family-first guy, and there’s some things that are unacceptable. After I told the refs, I told security, the Dallas security, told both of them and again, he said it again. So if no one going to control fans, what are we supposed to do as players?

So you want to add even more games to the college schedule? These kids are students, not pros. They have tests to take in December.

The other Division I does it, Division 2 and Division 3 (super smart nerds) and it does okay....

Umm, ignore them Patrick? They paid for that seat, and can taunt you as hard as the home team will allow. Get over yourself and your soft spot about your family.
