Is he more mobile than Boban?
Yes.
But so is the oak tree in my front yard.
Maybe he is a bit more mobile than I am giving him credit for, but UCF's defensive schemes kept him within 8 feet of the rim at all times. You can't get away with that anymore in the NBA.
I just don't think his theoretical upside is high enough to justify risking a pick on him. I would rather draft a more versatile player who fits the modern game, then maybe get Taco on the summer league team.
And if someone else wants to burn a pick on him, then let them.
Yeah, to be clear, when I say "take a flyer", I'm talking about signing him as an undrafted FA or a very late 2nd round pick if there isn't anyone that could fill a need or looks like they can stick in the league.
Imo, his ceiling in today's game is a guy whose brought in for 15 or so minutes per game as a rim protector/rebounder/dunker. Even though he is more mobile than anyone I've seen at his size, he still isn't a guy who's going to be getting to the perimeter to challenge outside shots or defending the pick and roll.
