Thought was we would lose at least one between AJ and NMart and for me just keep one to hedge bets for depth only. If any one starred on 25 man something went wrong.

Really think youth movement is about to begin. Alberto is young but guess a younger guy takes his spot or wonder how Profar fits in all of this. Cheech won't get picked up due to injury that easily. Can't afford a roster spot for him

Minor MLB Transactions: 11/30/17

Anthony Gose is joining the Rangers on a minors deal, per Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press (Twitter links). He’s expected both to function as a left-handed reliever — as he did last year in the minors — and to play the outfield — as he long did previously, including at the major-league level. Gose, who’s still just 27, recorded 14 strikeouts and six walks while allowing nine earned runs in 10 2/3 innings at the High-A level in 2017. Elbow issues halted his season at that point. Though Gose never showed quite enough bat in the majors, which is why he ended up attempting the conversion, he does have a useful skillset — quality speed and defense — that would make him a hypothetically interesting roster piece if he can develop sufficiently on the mound.

"Imagine a situation in which Gose comes into the game for defense in the eighth inning, with Ohtani on the mound . . . and he trots in from right field to face Kyle Seager, with Ohtani taking Gose’s place in right . . . after which Ohtani and Gose trade places again so the big righthander can polish off Mitch Haniger and Mike Zunino to preserve his own lead."

Apparently he is looking to play for a small market team. The Yankees are out of the running. He is meeting with SF and Seattle for sure. I have heard the Rangers are still scheduled for later but not sure if we are still in

What difference will getting Otani or not getting him make as far as how long it takes us to become one of the best 2 or 3 teams in baseball?

Would we have to wait until/if Ragans, Crouse and Matuella can become our #1, #2, and #3 in some order for that to happen if we don't get Otani? Maybe Palumbo can be thrown into that mix as well.

Are we lookng at 2 to 3 years if we get Otani versus 4 or 5 years if we don't land Otani? And that would be IF 3 of those 4 young pitchers actually pan out.
