Walk totals are overrated in my opinion. His numbers are terrible in spite of walking 5 times this spring.

Since he walked 32 times outta 607 AB last season I think this is amazing actually.

I think the contract he signed is what is making the decision about who plays and who doesn't. For now it is anyway.

I don't doubt you're correct. But I have never understood the logic - other than whomever made the bad business decision trying to cover-their-ass - of not playing a better player, potentially anyway, bc you fucked up and gave too much money to a lesser one.

This happens all the time actually in all sports. It's frigging nuts IMO.

hindsight is 20/20 on the Lucroy trade. But at the time it made a great deal of sense.

I thought JD pulled-the-wool at the time. Honestly, one of the more disappointing situations I remember.

The disappointment was in the player however and not the trader. And it's right up there with Oswalt.

I might need some old-to-young translation there....

Here ya go youngster....ha ha

pull the wool over someone's eyes. To deceive or fool someone; from the woolen wigs formerly worn by judges. Someone who had succeeded in fooling a judge likened this to physically pulling his wig down until he could not see properly.

I thought it was a good trade too at the time and it was good for the remainder of the year. But he just stunk the place up the next year. And not just offensively as he seemed to never be able to hold on to the ball when there was a close play at the plate.

I was thinking throwing in Brinson was what made me tentative unless you have a contract ahead of you especially since we had lost Alfaro and Nick previously. Was not sure of relief pitcher, Jeffries. Sure looked like Lucroy mailed it in next year in a fit plus Jeffries issue turned it way sour.

We had our window and threw the dice and it went snake eyes. At least we have two CFs on the horizon. The prospects now are valued more it seems

Profar is hitting .304 in spring training so far.

I know people think it’s crazy, but I think Roogie endeared himself to the team and the fan base by punching Bautista and being elvis’s “Gatorade bath” buddy.

I think he got the contract because of how he fits in with the team and not his play on the field. Profar has gotten screwed so badly. I feel bad for him.

Speaking of deals going south... scouts are not exactly singing the praises of Ohtani. I'll admit I was pulling for the Rangers to land him, but it's looking like they might be better off having not.

The reason it is next to nothing to me is that he has walked 5 times already this spring compared to 3 last spring and his OBP is actually lower this year. His average is almost 80 points lower this year compared to last year. That is why walks alone are a useless stat to me.
