Agree 100%. The good news is while our FAs played decent none are top tier, the bad news is the amount we could lose. We may HAVE to get 4 NFL defensive starters in this draft, not an easy task.

Tough task is gonna be improving the pass rush while possibly losing a good portion your secondary. Doubtful that happens. Defense will continue to be an issue and the cap problem rears its ugly head again!

Brice Butler has re-signed with the Cowboys. 1yr/1.1m (300k grnt)

I think Butler will be one of Dallas' top 3 WR on the depth chart next year - barring a WR in the draft.

Losing McClain would be a blow, hoping he leaves some money on the table to stay but not holding my breath.

Ideally he is not one of the top 3 though. Dez, Beasley and then either a FA or a draft pick then Butler as a #4 and we are a better team than Butler as #3 IMO. if Dez goes down I hope we aren't sitting there with Butler and Beasley as the starters. I like him on the roster, but I've yet to see him earn more snaps consistently. His blocking or should I say holding needs to be better and Beasley doesn't fill that role either. But I like him and am glad they resigned him. I think he will continue to develop and improve and down the role could be a starter.

I like McClain a lot. Was one of the best players on the field for more than one game last year. It's a numbers game on the DL and if we bring in another FA then he is expendable because we likely draft a couple and have Tapper back. But if we don't sign anyone else I think we need to keep him. I also think Crawford was better at DE so I'm looking for a starter to pair with Collins and right now that is McClain to me.

Remember when Chicago had two big, strong WRs on the outside in Marshall and Jeffrey that even Cutler played well? We could duplicate that with Dez and Jeffrey, but I bet he gets too much money. He also blocks and has a little more ability to get down the field than Dez which would help. I would have been looking at Marshall because I knew he wouldn't break the bank. Pryor looked dominant in stretches, but he too will get too much IMO

We could have possibly replicated that with Brandon Marshall. He only got 6m a yr on a 2 yr deal. Problem is we would have been trading offense for defense there, again.

Dallas is pretty high on practice squad receiver Jones.

It's a little early to panic about losing all our DB's. Still holding out hope we get Wilcox back in the fold and sign Carr or Mo

Ideally, no. But I don't see a WR in FA in Dallas' price range that could displace him. Dallas may draft someone for that #3 role - I think there is a decent chance a 3rd or 4th round pick gets spent on a WR. But there is no guarantee a rookie will outplay Butler. I'm slightly optimistic about Butler improving.

IMO defense needs to be the focus in FA, I'm hoping Dallas can retain Carr and Wilcox. After that, there is not much money left.

Well, I agree we should be stressing defense, but at the same time (like with the draft) you can only go with what is out there and we need another WR. You need to exit FA without any huge holes because there is no guarantee a draft pick can start or even play at all. As long as we sign guys that the scouts like and we think can help the team I won't be upset. Now if we give an Offensive guy a huge contract then I tend to agree, but $6M per year for 2 years is not much in the NFL with today's cap.

I don't think there is any way we will lose all 4 of those guys and would be surprised if we lost more than 2. Now that Church is gone I suspect we sign Wilcox and if the numbers are right I wouldn't be surprised to sign both of the CBs.

I tend to agree but as you guys know....Dallas has limited cash and many teams have large piles of cash they gotta spend. It's natural to assume our guys would be of interest, hopefully Wilcox feels a little loyalty and see's a path will Church gone

The other guy I think can help us is Amukamura. Maybe not a top of the line guy, but I think he can start and contribute.

What do you guys think about a one or two year deal for Peppers? Could be like getting Ware, but a little stronger against the run and I think like Ware he would benefit a little more from rotating in and out going forward.

In principle, yes, I agree. I don't view WR as much of a hole right now. Between Dez and Beasley, Dallas has two above average starters. With the guys on the roster, and a potential draft pick, I think the Cowboys can figure out the rest of the WR depth chart without much drop off from TWill.

CB is a too much of a question mark right now to ignore it, IMO. With the kind of numbers flying around, just for security, I would be looking to get Carr locked up first and foremost. I'm not sure Dallas can afford anyone else. Claiborne maybe, but I would be very leery of taking a chance with his injury history.

From a pure football perspective, I would prefer Peppers to Ware. Peppers still has some left in the tank. Not so sure Ware has any gas left. Peppers probably costs a little more than Ware. Should Dallas prioritize Peppers over the defensive backfield?

If Peppers is willing to wait around until 6/2 to be signed, then Hell Yes.

Pass rush is our top need. So yeah. But we could still bring back Wilcox and a CB too. We need more pressure on the QB and looks like a bunch of CBs that could help at #28. We have two guys right now on the roster that could be in the top 3. If we bring back Mo or Carr we would be OK and if we added an early pick to that group we would be fine. Better pass rush makes your DBs better.

It is a shame that we have to pine for signing Mo and Carr LOL. I would prefer Carr. Mo can not be counted on to stay healthy. Keep doing the same thing and expecting different results.

I don't see Peppers as a true difference maker at this point his career - he is not going to elevate a DLine. A good complimentary piece, sure.

Scandrick and Brown both present question marks right now, IMO. Scandrick might have lost a step, and I would be hesitant to count on Brown to be a full time starter at this point. Not saying Scandrick can't recover, and Brown can't prove to be a consistent capable starter, but I would feel a lot better if Dallas went into the draft with another CB that they know what they are going to get from.
