At some point some money needs to be spent on defense. DWare would be a spark for thi's defense. I admit that I have bashed ware for not having the killer instinct, but at 35 he would be the best pass rusher on defense. His presence on the field and locker room would be very valuable. He could take irving, and tapper under his wing. He could rotate in and create havoc. Get it done jerruh. Bring him home

Cowboys Will Try To Trade Veteran RB Alfred Morris, Hoping To Re-Sign Darren McFadden
Nate Bouda 2 hours ago Cowboys 0 Comments

Clarence Hill Jr. of the Star-Telegram reports that the Cowboys will attempt trade veteran RB Alfred Morris in the coming weeks, given that they don’t view him as a good fit to backup Ezekiel Elliott.

According to Hill, the Cowboys are interested in bringing Darren McFadden back next year, and while he’s interested in returning, he’s also drawing interest from two other teams.

Hill adds that Dallas would also like to retain fellow free agent RB Lance Dunbar and have him continue to work in a specialty role for them.

It’s unlikely that the Cowboys would be able to get any more than a conditional draft pick for Morris.

Morris, 28, is a former sixth-round pick of the Redskins back in 2012. He played four seasons in Washington before signing a two-year, $3.5 million contract with the Cowboys last year that includes a $1 million base salary for the 2017 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading or releasing Morris would free up $1,637,500 of available cap space while creating $500,000 in dead money.

In 2016, Morris appeared in 14 games for the Cowboys and rushed for 243 yards on 69 carries (3.5 YPC) to go along with three receptions for 11 yards receiving and two total touchdowns.

DeMarcus Ware Reportedly Eyeing Return To Cowboys
Nate Bouda 7 hours ago Broncos, Cowboys 0 Comments

Clarence Hill Jr of the Star-Telegram is reporting that free agent DE DeMarcus Ware is considering a return to the Cowboys.

According to Hill Jr, there’s still a chance that Ware could re-sign with the Broncos, but the possibility exists that he could return to Dallas after spending three years in Denver.

Sources tell Hills that Ware is healthy, despite undergoing back surgery and he believes he’s ready to “finish his career with a flourish.”

The Cowboys are expected to be in the market for pass-rush help and it’s possible that Ware could prove to be one of the better values in this year’s free agent market.

Last month, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Ware remains interested in returning to the Broncos next season, but he’s also leaving the door open for him to play for the Cowboys in 2017.

Ware, 34, is a former first-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2005. He spent nine years in Dallas before signing on with the Broncos in 2014.

During the offseason, Ware agreed to a restructured contract with the Broncos included a $ million base salary for the 2016 season to go along with a $2 million signing bonus and another $3.5 million that was available in incentives.

The Broncos placed Ware on season-ending injured reserve with a back injury towards the end of the season.

In 2016, Ware appeared in 10 games and recorded 15 tackles, four sacks and a pass defense for the Broncos.

Cowboys RT Doug Free Considering Retirement
Nate Bouda 1 day ago Cowboys 0 Comments

Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan reports that Cowboys veteran RT Doug Free is considering retirement.

Yesterday, Cowboys executive Stephen Jones mentioned that they expected to have Free back as their starting right for the 2017 season.

“Our projection is Doug is going to come back, and he’s our starting right tackle,” Jones said, via Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Although, Jones did say that they’ve considered the possibility playing La’el Collins at right tackle.

We’ve visited about [Collins playing right tackle],” Jones said. “Obviously right now, we feel good about Doug coming back and being able to do that. But if Doug were to retire or not be around or if something happened to him, than yeah, we’ve visited about who would have the best chance to go outside of our inside guys.

“I think [Collins] would certainly be an option.

Free, 33, is a former fourth-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2007. He’s currently in the final year of his three-year, $15 million contract that includes $6 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $5 million for the 2017 season.

In 2016, Free has appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 40 offensive tackle out of 78 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Free as the news is available.

Cowboys “Not A Fit” For RB Adrian Peterson
Nate Bouda 2 days ago Cowboys 0 Comments

Charean Williams of the Star-Telegram, citing a team source, reports that the Cowboys are “not a fit” for veteran RB Adrian Peterson, despite some speculation that they could pair him with Ezekiel Elliott.

Some questioned whether Peterson would be willing to take less money and accept a smaller role to join the Cowboys.

Beyond that, Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones said Tuesday that he doesn’t expect them to be big players in free agency this year.

I don’t expect us to be big players for other team’s players, but obviously we want to see where our guys are and they’ve got to see where they are in terms of what their market may be,” Jones said. “That certainly will influence whether we can sign some of our guys back. It’ll depend on what their market is.

Vikings announced earlier in the day that they will not exercise Peterson’s 2017 option, which means he will become an unrestricted free agent next week.

Adrian is an important part of the Minnesota Vikings organization,” said Vikings General Manager Rick Spielman. “We will continue to have conversations with his representatives and leave our future options open while determining what is best for both parties moving forward.

It was clear that the Vikings weren’t going to keep him at his current price, but there was at least some hope that they could reach an agreement on a reduced salary that would allow him to be back in Minnesota next year.

Peterson is now in a position to test the free agent market for the first time in his career. Teams like the Raiders, Packers, Giants and Buccaneers have all been tossed out as speculative landing spots for the Peterson, but we’ll have to see how his market develops.

Peterson, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2007. He was entering the final year of his three-year, $44 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $11.75 million to go along with a $6 million roster bonus due on March 11.

In 2016, Peterson has rushed for 72 yards on 37 carries (1.9 YPC) to go along with three receptions for eight yards receiving and no touchdowns over the course of three games.

NO SURPRISE HERE

Jamaal Charles Looking To Join a Contending Team That Was In Postseason Last Year
Nate Bouda 2 days ago Chiefs, Colts, Cowboys, Eagles 0 Comments

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the Chiefs didn’t have any discussions with veteran RB Jamaal Charles before releasing him on Tuesday.

According to Garafolo, playing for a contender will be the top priority for Charles moving forward and is looking at teams who were in the playoffs last year. Garafolo specifically mentioned the Cowboys as a team who would be high on Charles’ list of potential landing spots.

Garafolo specifically mentioned the Cowboys as a team who would be high on Charles’ list of potential landing spots. He also acknowledged the obvious connections to the Eagles and Colts, but it appears as though Charles wants to be sure that they’re in position to make a legitimate Super Bowl run.

Charles, 30, was in the final year of his four-year, $28 million contract that included $8.3 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $3.75 million for the 2017 season when the Chiefs cut him in a move that freed up $7 million of available cap space.

In 2016, Charles appeared in three games and rushed for 40 yards on 12 carries (3.3 YPC) to go along with two receptions for 14 yards receiving and a touchdown.

We’ll have more regarding potential landings spots for Charles as news is available.

Even less likely than the AP story IMO, but interesting

From here in Tyler and son of former Mets and Rangers pitcher. I like this kid a lot and if he fell later like the 3rd, I would love to see this kid w a star on his helmet. Even w Dak as the future, it would be cool to see. Aint happening though

Patrick Mahomes
Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes mentioned that he’s hoping to convince the Browns he’s worthy of taking ahead of the other quarterbacks in this year’s draft class.

“I want to get drafted as high as possible and I want to get drafted to the right team and I feel like Hue Jackson has a great thing going there,” Mahomes told Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “I feel like they’ll keep it going in the right direction in the near future.”

“I feel like I have a lot to offer and I feel like if I do well at the Combine and at Pro Day, I will be up there with them,” Mahomes added.

  • In an interview with Pro Football Talk, Mahomes said he received a second-round grade from the NFL’s College Advisory Committee.

sign our own that we need. Grab a reasonably priced pass rusher. Replace any guys we lose and build depth on the OL and DBs and I think we are sitting pretty going into the draft

Good plan. I would like to be in the draft the best player available(except running back and QB) in the first round position after a few off season moves before draft .

Report: Cowboys safety Kavon Frazier undergoes foot surgery
It's an offseason filled with surgeries for players of the Dallas Cowboys' defense, and rookie Kavon Frazier just joined the fold.

There's a decision to be made at the safety position for the Dallas Cowboys, and Kavon Frazier will have a lot to do with it.

The rookie sixth-round pick (212th overall) spent most of his 2016 on the team's inactives list, as both starter Barry Church and backup J.J. Wilcox had career seasons. Both are now free agents this offseason which could see Frazier get serious play next season, and he just underwent surgery to make sure he's up to the task.

Per ESPN Insider Todd Archer reports the former Central Michigan star should be all set for the summer.

Cowboys safety Kavon Frazier had foot surgery in the offseason. He had a stress reaction during the year but had his fifth metatarsal fixed before a fracture developed. He should be ready for the offseason program.

The Cowboys’ season may be over, but they’re not mailing it in. Don’t miss any breaking offseason news, take a second to sign up for our FREE Cowboys messenger!

The good news is the injury was caught early and resolved before it was exacerbated.

Now the Cowboys can begin dealing with the safety position this free agency with some confidence. They may not be able to retain both Church and Wilcox, but Frazier has tremendous potential and could be the future.

Interesting, but as great as Charles was, it would have to be cheap IMO. 30 year old RB's just aren't the ticket

Foreman is not the type of back dallas needs. Plus he is shorthorn. Mixon is a speed game changer.
