Dallas knows they have just so many bullets in their gun, while other teams sit with 50/60M to play with. They can't get in a bidding war but will draw additional reserves if the right situation presents itself. No reason to restructure another contract till they survey the field and determine their opportunities with certain players. This is why I don't see JPP in Dallas, nor Chandler. Hopefully D. Wear wants to play in Dallas for the obvious reasons.
We'll see soon enough.

I dont see any big name "War Daddy" signing as a FA with Dallas with the current cap numbers. I haven't even dove too much into the FA market so far because I think all they will do is try fill a few holes with filler pieces. I haven't read one JPP to Dallas story.

Which is exactly why I don't think we will see another restructure or any big names in FA. At the end of the day, Dallas just doesn't have the resources this year - unless they do something really short sighted.

I tend to agree with you, BUT....winning a championship would have no short sighted effect to me. A championship is all that matters at the end of the day. :suds:

If we could sit here and say that signing a JPP or Chandler Jones guarantees us a Super Bowl, then sign me up. Restructure Dez, Lee, and anyone else that it would require to make it happen and fill out the roster.

It would be such a huge gamble, with potentially devastating consequences if it doesn't work out.

I'd do it a Super Bowl. But also could possibly cost us a guy like Jones, Elliott,or Dak down the road if things don't go according to plan. That's such a risk, especially for a team that may already be a true contender, as-is.

Totally agree. We have enough to resign our own players we want to keep which is fine with me. If we lose both CBs we need to sign another one and no chance we lose both safeties IMO. My guys as I've said would be Mo and Church. I loved what I saw early in the year and would hope they could grow off of that. I bring back T McClain too and later on I bring Crawford in to compete for a rotation spot if no one pays him. I'd even bring Wilcox back as long as it isn't clear cut starter. Carr is just average and getting older so even though he was really good last year and has been durable as Hell I'd pick Mo. I'd love it if we added a pass rusher and wouldn't be upset if we restructured someone to do it...but I just don't see it unless it's a Ware type and at like 2 for $12M or something like that.

Report: Cowboys interested in signing QB Josh McCown
The Cowboys are reportedly once again out to land Josh McCown, but first they need to figure out the situation with Tony Romo.

The writing is on the wall for Tony Romo when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys, although the graffiti is a bit difficult to read.

The veteran quarterback is reportedly willing to rework his contract to help facilitate a trade, but ultimately expects the team to release him if one doesn't materialize. The only virtual certainty is that Romo will not retire, but whatever happens will have a direct result on what the Cowboys do at the backup QB position.

It's now being reported the team has interest in newly-released veteran Josh McCown, but it'll depend on what course they take with Romo.

The Cowboys’ season may be over, but they’re not mailing it in. Don’t miss any breaking offseason news, take a second to sign up for our FREE Cowboys messenger!

It's not the first time the Cowboys have been keen on McCown, as there was interest this time last year -- before the Browns vetoed any potential negotiations. Now released, the Cowboys now have a shot at signing the QB without giving up additional assets.

What a difference a year makes.

Owner and general manager Jerry Jones would love some veteran talent behind rookie Dak Prescott going forward, and they'll need to think hard on if they should retain both Kellen Moore and Mark Sanchez.

The two have a combined record of 0-8 in their last eight games with only 10 touchdowns to 13 interceptions -- making McCown an attractive option.

On Saturday, Jones stated he has not had any discussion with Romo as of yet regarding his future. With free agency to begin on March 9, however, it's a discussion that's likely soon to come.

He'd be a great fit. A guy that could win you a few games with this supporting cast, and a Pro's Pro for Dak to learn from. Make it happen

I like it too. This team is really coming together. We need to sure up a few spots and I think we are right there with any team fighting for a Championship. A good backup would be a plus if ever needed. I'm not as worried about having a good backup as I was when Romo was QB, but it is still important. I just wouldn't spend too much on the position now, but would love to grab a vet who can step in and win a game..

With all the JPP talk I didn't realize Johnathan Hankins was a FA. He is very underrated. I would absolutely target this guy. He is big enough to be a run stuffer and agile enough to play the 3 tech. He and Collins next to each other inside would be awesome. He would help our run defense and our pass defense and I don't think he gets a huge contract. Plus he is very young. He obviously isn't going to get 10 sacks, but he would get a few and he gets a good push and can collapses the pocket which is just as important:2cents:

Either way, him leaving the Giants will be big for us. We struggled with the duo of he and Snacks because they not only clog the middle, but also move laterally down the line in pursuit as well

I think we have enough DTs. We need somebody that can play RDE at a very high level.

Just saw this. Not sure if this list changed. I can't imagine it has. Not an Offensive guy I worry about losing that we can't replace via draft or FA. Doesn't mean I wouldn't like to resign some of them, just that none of them would hurt that badly. Even the defensive guys aren't players we can't do without, but many of them play a big role. Biggest issue isn't that we may lose a guy like Mo, Church, Carr...issue is we could lose all of them and be left with a hole. If we retain two of those 3 I'd be fine with whatever happens with the rest

Here’s the complete list of impending free agents below.

Unrestricted:

QB Kellen Moore
QB Mark Sanchez
RB Lance Dunbar
RB Darren McFadden

I like the idea myself as well, as long as he stays off the basketball court here in Tyler. Those McCown boys are from down the road in Jacksonville, and I played basketball against them at Green Acres Baptist Church a few years ago. They put on a dunk clinic and balled out, we got killed every time

I would dance in the street if we got Snacks. If he can manhandle our guards, I'll take him...

He's not a FA. Hankins is. But yeah. Snacks would be a crazy good signing (but very $). I think the Jets and Giants both realized how good he was after he switched teams.

Hankins is a stud. I also saw the Jets were looking for a 3rd for Sheldon Richardson. I'd think on that...
