Hankins is a stud. I also saw the Jets were looking for a 3rd for Sheldon Richardson. I'd think on that...
Interesting. You kind of need to ignore last year for Richardson as it was kind of derailed from day 1. Before that he was dominant IMO. I do worry about his commitment and being late for meetings isn't a good sign as we apparently have had issues with our top players doing this and not being penalized or made to stop. But, he could be a good 3 tech and we were told from day one that is the key to Rod's defense.

Great story:10:

I think Luke or Randy was the one that posterized my ass, but it was a bit embarrassing to get dunked all over even by a QB, and I am not exactly Spud Webb. I go 6'3 and 215. HAHA!

Where will Adrian Peterson play next season? Cowboys reportedly interested
We'll add the Bucs, Raiders and Packers to a short list of possible destinations for Peterson

The Vikings essentially let the world know on Tuesday they no longer would be in the Adrian Peterson business, declining to pick up the running back’s option for 2017 . That’s no surprise: letting Peterson leave into free agency was a no-brainer given his contract, which allowed Minnesota to dump a weighty cap number with no penalty.

That doesn’t mean he can’t return to Minnesota in 2017. His heartstrings may be stronger than his purse strings, and Peterson could take a reduced contract that allows him to finish his career with the team that drafted him in 2007.

However, a reunion feels unlikely, especially with a glut of suitors for Peterson next year. So where could he play in 2017? There’s a spicy list of teams that are headlined by the biggest name brand in all sports.

Dallas Cowboys
As soon as the Vikings released a statement about the future of Peterson, rumors about the Cowboys began to percolate.

The Cowboys make sense for Peterson. Peterson is from Texas. He previously has said he would love to play for Dallas. Jerry Jones previously has said he would love to have Peterson play for the Cowboys. The Cowboys are a run-heavy team and pairing Peterson with Ezekiel Elliott would minimize injury potential for both. Peterson would fit in seamlessly with the Cowboys offense -- imagine him coming through holes created by Tyron Smith, Zach Martin and Travis Frederick and the pain he could inflict on defenders. He would immediately jump to a contender.

But there are just as many reasons, most of which may weigh heavier, why Peterson won’t land in Dallas. The Cowboys are flush with salary cap space right now, particularly as they figure out how to handle the Tony Romosituation. Peterson might not be willing to take less money to join the Cowboys, even if they offer a perfect fit. He might not be willing to serve as Elliott’s backup.

It’s a fun scenario to imagine but it’s also not entirely realistic.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
One of the teams Peterson mentioned earlier this offseason, the Bucs could serve as a very nice mix of cash and quality for Peterson. The Bucs have plenty of salary cap space heading into 2017 and might be looking to move on from Doug Martin, who was suspended near the end of the 2016 season and could represent a long-term concern. If you want to move on from Martin and minimize the PR hit of cutting a guy who just got a fat contract, signing one of the greatest running backs of all time to deflect the attention is a pretty savvy move.

The Buccaneers absolutely are willing to get under center and run the ball, and adding Peterson plus another receiving weapon in the draft and some additional offensive line help to Jameis Winston, Mike Evans and Cameron Brate could make this a high-octane offense.

Tampa just missed the playoffs last season, so this would qualify was a contender that could give Peterson a deal close to what he believes his market value is.

Oakland Raiders
This is an easy fit, too. The Raiders made the playoffs and are on the rise, going 12-5 in Jack Del Rio’s second season. Oakland was very good in large part because of its offense, and its offense was very good in large part because of the offensive line.

Watching that group shove around the Denver Broncos defense in prime time was a message-sending outing for that unit.

Latavius Murray is a free agent this offseason, which means DeAndre Washington, Taiwan Jones and Jalen Richard are the only guys left on the depth chart. That’s a talented and interesting group of running backs, but it lacks power the true power runner that Peterson would provide. He could have a big year behind that offensive line. Oakland is in good shape as far as the cap goes (although the Raiders have some extensions on the horizon), making it a financial viability as well.

Green Bay Packers
AP could go full Favre! Maybe he’s so angry about being spurned by the Vikings that he decides he’s going to just suit up for a small amount of money, play for their archrival and try to win a Super Bowl by beating up on Minnesota twice a year. The Packers need running back help with Eddie Lacyheaded to free agency.

Ted Thompson isn’t going to spend a bunch of money on Peterson, but he’s shown he’ll dabble in the big-name veteran market if the price is right (see: Julius Peppers).

Offensively the Packers might not offer quite as good a fit, especially if Aaron Rodgers is frequently operating out of the shotgun. But Green Bay probably would welcome the freedom to run the ball out of power sets more often.

Minnesota Vikings
And, of course, these two could always kiss and make up. Football is a business and Peterson had to see the contract decision coming, considering the money on the table. Among the all-time great Vikings, he was drafted by Minnesota and he is beloved by the fans.

But he’s also an elderly running back who believes he is still worth top-flight money as the market for running backs just isn’t what it was when he signed his last deal with the team.

With the Vikings’ offensive line issues and Sam Bradford under center, it’s not entirely clear Peterson is necessarily a good fit from an offensive standpoint either.

I WISH THIS STUFF WOULD STOP, THIS ISNT EVEN A POSSIBILITY IMO

I like the idea myself as well, as long as he stays off the basketball court here in Tyler. Those McCown boys are from down the road in Jacksonville, and I played basketball against them at Green Acres Baptist Church a few years ago. They put on a dunk clinic and balled out, we got killed every time
I used to own a baseball hitting academy in Tyler for a couple of years, too many irons in the fire now. Nice town, traffic like Dallas though lol

Traffic is becoming a bigger problem every day. I can remember when the population was 45K and there was nothing here south of the mall. Place has blown up. I have been here for 38 of my 43 years aside from 5 years in Scottsdale and its just crazy to have seen this town's growth.

Population is closing in on 150K I believe, but my uncle has been w the Tyler Fire Dept for 35 years or so and says the count they do, w the traffic strips has the traffic count from 8am-5pm at over 500K cars Monday through Friday.

My 6 year old is hitting in the 40 mph cage and is hitting 50% of the pitches thrown by the machine, its pretty impressive, but he has been taking a hitting lesson for an hour every Thursday for awhile now. He could use a hitting academy though

I sold out a couple of years back. I have one Son that is a pro fighter, another that is a college baseball player, and an 8 and 6 year old. I'm having fun coaching the two younger ones . Their big brother was 1st team all state SS, 2nd team all state pitcher and District MVP last year from White Oak. Needless to say, his little brothers wanna be just like big brother lol

Very nice, congrats on your boys' success. I love coaching and watching the kids improve each practice and from season to season. I started with my youngest a couple years ago in tee ball and this is our second season in coach pitch. He isn't near as crazy about baseball as I am though

Thanks Buddy, you too. I've been coaching for 15 years, coached with DBat Dallas last year. Best advice I can give, keep it positive when they are young. If they are having fun, the passion for the game will come

DUDE....please!
I went to Tyler on Friday, Feb. 17 to see Lyle Lovett. Came in on 64 around 5pm to find the venue in the downtown area...then drove out 69 to eat at the Cracker Barrel at 20/69 and then back to the downtown area for some beers and the concert. Traffic may be worse than it was years ago but nothing like Dallas Friday traffic.

HaHa, I should have prefaced that...traffic at 8,12 and 5 on the loop is like Dallas. If you are on the loop at 5:05, you are crawling

Must be a proud dad. That's awesome. Going to a middle school game right now. First game ever using wood bats. Should be fun.

Heck Yeah. I liked using the wood bats, when we were with DBat, we used wood even if the other teams used metal. It's not the bat, it's the swing. Since the bats went BBCore a few years back, there's not a huge difference. If you square up wood, it will travel, you just don't get as much off jams and such

Metal bats last a bit longer too, although they do fail in time as well.

Just speculation on my part as I have no experience with the newer wooden bats, but I have to believe the metal bats are still providing more distance on average if all other variables are equal.

So Doug Free contemplating retirement. That throws a wrench in the mix. Not sure if Green is ready to start or if Collins can play RT (then we need to figure out who our LG is). The cap space would be welcomed but definitely puts a dent in the depth/chemistry.

They are a little hotter now, but nothing like the per BBCore rules 5 years ago. My Son hit 3 HR's his SR season. At one of their last practices, he brought one of his big brothers old hot bats to swing for fun and hit 5 out in one session of BP lol

I think he can kick out to RT so if we move Collins and resign Leary we would just be in an incredible spot. But, not sure that is the wisest use of our cap $'s. I think Leary gets a pretty big contract if anyone watches his tape...and they will

I was pleased with how Green played in the regular season games after a horrid preseason performance. But he needs to stop anticipating the snap count. He could have had 15 penalties that one game if they called it. If he can continue to develop and play the right side I think we would be even better next year with him than Free.

We have a Jr. College in the city I live. They hit 79 HRs the yr before BBCoR. The first yr. of the rule changes they hit 11. Our high school team may hit 5 a year now. It's crazy- drop 5 and drop 10 bats are made so hot now- 7 -8 yr olds are hitting balls 200 ft.

My kids are using wood right now mainly just in practice. They will play in a couple of wood bat tournaments this year.

Glad to here they are increasing the restrictions. Metal bats were getting ridiculous for a while there
