oday has me worried hart is having bad luck atm . I can see jj hardy is starting to struggle a lot on D so we need to get a shortstop or 2nd baseman ready for next year .

Hardy has been on a steady decline offensively and now defensively. Of course Buck will never bench him. O's have a option on him for $14 million for next year and at this point looks like a no brainer to decline. He's not doing well at the plate hitting .198.

What options do the O's even have? Play Flaherty more? Anyone decent in the minors?

Don't know about the minors a whole lot (that's more up ted's alley) but there doesn't look to be a whole lot of decent options becoming free agents next year at either position. So I'd say we'd probably do a one year deal with someone more than likely or sign JJ to a much smaller deal.

as far as the farm goes if you need a shortstop take janish . our prospects at short are marin and mountcastle the pick would be the latter . the beauty of the o's we have 3 shortstops jj , schoop and manny . so you could move one and open up another spot but we would be no better off . mountcastle and reyes is both 20 and reyes is a third baseman both already playing high a ball . we are more pitching happy in the minors and what it tells me some of the pitchers get lied about due to the fact they don't have the Baltimore D . we have several outfielders coming fast I would be diverting some of them to the infielders . Instead of moving boom boom to the outfield I would move him to third and manny to short . I really like some of the outfielders in a year or so from the outfielders . dj steward has really taken off batting leadoff at aa . mullins stole the spring so why add boom boom to add depth ? boom boom should play everyday and don't reimold him

JJ isn't going to ask much knowing his statistical value/injury time. I know he can hit so from here to rest of the season he has time to get his numbers up.

Added note......Has anybody noticed the starters are getting out of the first 3 innings this year, its been an added dividend:clap:

any second or third basemen coming open next fa market ?

Second Basemen

Alexi Amarista (29) — $2.5MM club option with a $150K buyout
Darwin Barney (32)
Andres Blanco (34)
Emilio Bonifacio (33)
Asdrubal Cabrera (32) — $8.5MM club option with a $2MM buyout
Daniel Descalso (31) — $2MM club option with a $150K buyout
Stephen Drew (35)
Danny Espinosa (31)
Ryan Flaherty (31)
Logan Forsythe (31) — $8.5MM club option with a $1MM buyout
Jed Lowrie (34) — $6MM club option with a $1MM buyout
Howie Kendrick (34)
Ian Kinsler (36) — $10MM club option with a $5MM buyout
Eduardo Nunez (31)
Cliff Pennington (34)
Brandon Phillips (37)
Adam Rosales (35)
Neil Walker (32)

Third Basemen

Andres Blanco (34)
Yunel Escobar (35)
Ryan Flaherty (31)
Todd Frazier (32)
Jed Lowrie (34) — $6MM club option with a $1MM buyout
Mike Moustakas (29)
Eduardo Nunez (31)
Jhonny Peralta (36)
Trevor Plouffe (32)
Jose Reyes (35)
Danny Valencia (33)

Pretty slim pickings. Nunez is pretty good can play 2nd, 3rd, and SS. He would probably be the best bet but will most likely get a multi year deal for decent money. Career 273 hitter and can steal bases already 7 this year.

Someone will over pay for Mustakas, Frazier can hit for average (we have enough power hitters with no average), then everyone else is mediocre or getting old.

Is it just me or does Brach look way more comfortable as a setup guy instead of a closer?
Can't wait to get Britton back.

At shortstop, our free agent options will be these guys:

Shortstops

Alexi Amarista (29) — $2.5MM club option with a $150K buyout
Erick Aybar (34)
Darwin Barney (32)
Asdrubal Cabrera (32) — $8.5MM club option with a $2MM buyout
Zack Cozart (32)
Stephen Drew (35)
Alcides Escobar (31)
Danny Espinosa (31)
J.J. Hardy (35) — $14MM club option with a $2MM buyout
Jed Lowrie (34) — $6MM club option with a $1MM buyout
Eduardo Nunez (31)
Cliff Pennington (34)
Jhonny Peralta (36)
Adam Rosales (35)

I'd like to see more from Cozart before I'd seriously consider him to take over for Hardy. But like Moose, I'm sure someone will overpay for him if he keeps close to the numbers he's putting up at the moment.
