2017 Oklahoma Sooners

Can someone give me a little synopsis of the strengths and weaknesses of the team for the upcoming year, I have just adopted the Sooners as my team and I would like to know who the star players are where do we need to improve and just a general feel for the upcoming season.

We Skrong.

There are concerns about the Running Back position, WR position and defensive line.

RB - With the line we have, and the depth...if the running back can run, he's gonna get some yards. Will one of the newbs be electrifying enough to make the defense respect the run? We'll find out.

WR - We do this every year it seems. Broyles took off, and someone took his place. Saunders took off and someone took his place. Shepard took off and someone took his place. Now Dede is gone and we're all excited to see which WR takes his place atop the throne. (my money is on Jeffrey Mead)

DL - I've heard we're tinkering with 4-3 sets alongside our 3-4 sets. We're not particularly deep on the DL due to attrition. Our LB corps is deeper and fairly strong with Obo & Kelly returning. The Defensive Backfield is getting better and we have some depth.

Look for Badet to do some damage at WR.

Offense:

O-Line: We have a top 10, maybe top 5 line in the country. LT Orlando Brown looks like an all American and top 10 draft pick. There's NFL talent across the entire line. It's our biggest strength this year.

QB: Baker Mayfield. What else is there to say? Also, if he goes down there's something legit talent behind him.

RB: Lots of talent, but we're shy on experience. Anderson should be RB #1 and has the potential to be electric. Behind our O line there's no reason we shouldn't be able to get yards on the ground. Their ability to pick up blocking assignments will be key though.

WR: Were replacing a Biletnekoff winner, but we always find one or two guys to step up at this position. We've got lots of talent, but gotta see who's gonna step up. Andrews should be a nightmare inside the 20.

Defense:

D-Line: Probably our biggest weakness, but mostly in terms of depth. Some really solid talent here, but no one guy that has to be double teamed every play. I think Gallimore is the closest thing we have to a game breaker here. After that, there's some solid talent, some of which is still developing.

Linebacker: Probably the strongest position group on defense. There's ridiculous talent at OLB with Kenneth Murray, Caleb Kelly, and Okoronkwo. ILB, I'm not as confident in. We're replacing one who called our defense for three years, and I'm not the biggest fan of Beal. Hearing good things about Terry here, but we won't know till the season gets here.

DB: replacing a corner and a safety this year. Think both will be upgrades. Returning two all conference guys with borderline all American potential. We've recruited well here. I feel good about this one.

Welp...there are a lot of doubters out there.

I'm not convinced we're going to be world beaters, hopeful but cautiously so. The defense being able to get us the ball back a little bit more is the lynchpin here. Two possessions in the Houston game and 4 in the tOSU game would have had us flirting with an undefeated season.

The 4-3 is going to smart at first I think in conference play. It should serve us well in the tOSU game I hope.

There are 3 realistic losses on our schedule, and two are in the first half of the season. WVU gonna be better. The goatmilkers will be better. texico is texico. TCU may be better if that qb can find his ass with both hands. It will be no cakewalk.

Don't go as much as I used to. My back is a little bitch.

Sometimes I'll endure the discomfort if I can take a handful of pillz.

...but the rum and cokes keep coming, and keep coming, and keep coming...

Before we really knew we were somebody.

The defense is coming along nicely from what I hear.

Nowhere near the nervous handwringing that was going on last year at this time.

If we're healthy going into the Shoe and more than a 7 point dog, I'd think about investing.

Big, big pickup for the 17' season. The guy can come in and has immediate playing time. Was a U$C commit but would of had to sit out a couple of season because of transfer rules. JUCO guy, signed with the 17's squad.
