MLB Power Rankings: Where All 30 Teams Stand at the All-Star Break
What the Brewers success has done is confuse the Cubs, Parrots and Cardinals. The Cubs figured they could walk in, didn't count on a pitching collapse. Still have enough talent to win? Maybe not but they will have to upgrade. It's hard to find 3 good starters in July.meh, as far as I'm concerned, I would hope the Brewers stayed under the radar

Pittsburgh is getting Marte back. Do they try to contend once more before they unload Cutch? They have a lot of youth to trade. Maybe they tread water.
St. Louis is hard to define. I think they need bats. Those do not fall out of the tree.
The Reds are still a pitching wasteland but they have the hitting to take 2 of 3 from anybody now.
All this means, in a sentence: Milwaukee just needs to hang in there. They can win the NL-C. By the middle of August, ain't nobody flying under the radar.
Actually, the NL Central could be the most exciting. I admit that there is no wild card team coming from this division, but there are 3 teams ready to strap it on and see what happens.
DeJong and Voit has pumped a little life in the STL team.....
Cubs demonstrate they had the horsepower to make a trade.
Quintana ... worth 2 or 3 wins?
Yes, because starting pitchers with a career ERA+ of 115 and pitch 200+ innings are a dime a dozen.
This is basically all relative to how you feel about the Brewers, Rockies and Cardinals.does anyone feel that acquiring Quintana was the move that was going to get them over the top?
That seems quite lowThis is basically all relative to how you feel about the Brewers, Rockies and Cardinals.
People with their record should generally think about selling. A lot of Cardinals fans think that they could alleviate their log jam with a similar trade but thats not generally why the Cards GM does trades.
I know I feel better about the Cardinals chances in 2018-2020 right now but I do think the Cubs have about a 30% chance of making the playoffs after this trade.
Is it?That seems quite low
Holy crap, they're super low on the Brewers. If you'd think the Brewers go 30-38 or 31-37 to finish out the season then yeah, the Cubs should make the playoffs but that would be in 'choke job' territory.Playoff Odds | FanGraphs Baseball
They're not very high on the Brewers. Those projections do seem to underrate Nelson and to a lesser extent Anderson. Shaw's 23% HR/FB rate will probably regress as well, but he still looks like a pretty solid 3B. If I'm a Brewers fan, I'd be pretty excited about the future.
