The things is, casual fans affect ratings way more than hardcore fans .

The hardcore fans are going to be watching either way. The casual nba fans, and sports fans that only tune into to big games and the Finals... their level of interest in the matchup is what affects the ratings.

I just don't think the majority of fans, casual or otherwise, want to see another Warriors/Cavs finals, that's all.

One or the other.

But back on the topic at hand...

Do you think the average NBA fan would rather see another Warriors/cavs finals or at least one different team instead of them?
I'm good with variety.

Don't get me wrong - I like that the team I follow is winning. But at the end of the day I wish there were other good teams to rival them. How many people are interested in watching a movie that is so easily predictable?

I would love to see the Wizards make it.

Realistically though, assuming they don't, I want to see the best possible matchup. That probably means Cleveland.

Why would I want to see a lesser opponent get steamrolled by the Warriors?

I would think the hope is there will be more than just 2 good teams. I think the league should find a way to make trading players easier. I know there's contracts, but they should find a way to create loopholes when trading is the option.

At the moment any opponent would get steamrolled by the Warriors. Even the 'mighty' cavs only managed to win one game.

It would be fun to watch the celtics get their asses kicked too for a change.

Why? You think casual fans wouldn't get disinterested watching the same two teams in the finals over and over again?

Actually quite the opposite.

I think casual fans would rather see the names they know best. That would be LeBron and GS.

The Celtics and Rockets have been a lot busier this offseason. I would lead to believe casuals would want to see what they could do.

Nah.

Ratings are always highest when dynasty teams are involved.

A Celtic/Rockets Finals (not happening) would not get as good ratings as Cleveland/GS.

And look what it did for Kobe!

He had a career crippling injury in his mid 30s when he should have had 3-4 more highly productive years left. Kobe is a resin to argue for rest, not against it.

According to his doctors, how much he played had nothing to do with his injury. Last I checked, Kobe played for 20 years.

Kobe is absolutely a reason to argue against.

Well when they're on, you can let me know what they think.

Feel free to tag more if you want. But I feel like your inability to take a joke is really the issue here.

You're a total Lakers villain.

In fact, in PM's, we refer to you as Snidely Whiplash.

What about Jordan?

He retired for a year and a half in his absolute prime. Then retired again at a relatively young age still at the top of the sport. While he didn't sit out games, he still got his rest.
