So I tried out the starting lineup of Dragic, Waiters, McGruder, JJ, and Hassan in NBA2k last night and I love it. Using J-Rich as backup SF and Winslow as the backup PF is a great idea. Hope Miami uses that starting 5

Agree. Plus, the way things are now, a lot of these kids don't really need their high school teams to make a name for themselves. For better or worse, AAU takes care of that.

Besides, something tells me that the entire athletic department at Chino Hills High School let out a collective sigh of relief about not having to deal with LaVar anymore.
Watched the Lakers last night against Denver. They really need Ball out there. Without him the offense looks rushed & unorganized. Also, when is Luke going to make them play some defense?

Congrats to the Lynx. Fun game. I thought the Sparks were going to catch them with that late run that got them within 3 with about 30 seconds left. But the Lynx hit a big shot and their free throws.

Years ago, Pat Riley and the Showtime Lakers said..."No rebounds, no rings."

The Lynx got the rebounds (Fowles had 20 ) and the rings.

Do it again next year?

Yeah, Ball really sets the offense in motion for them.

To be fair, they have yet to put their whole team out there. They were without Lopez and Bogut for the first 2 games and without Lopez, Bogut, Ingram and Ball last night.

Hopefully, the defense will come as they all play together. In the NBA, offense comes easier than defense since there is a lot more communication required on defense.

They have showed some signs of the defense improving, but they need to be on the court together more to be able to improve. If nothing else, there has been more consistent effort on defense. But still lots of breakdowns. Right now, if a team is just a little patient offensively, the Lakers will make miss or be slow on a rotation that leads to an open shot. They need to tighten up and cut back on the mistakes.

If they can just be at least close to an average defensive team, it will be a huge improvement over recent years.

I disagree. Eventually this kid will have enter society and interact with other adults who wont think that he is God's gift to the world and expect him to have social skills that he would have learned in high school and 12 years from now when his friends when his friends are have their first high school reunion, he will be left out of the loop because his dad thought he was to good for them. LM is demonstrating some very poor parenting skills imo

He's not skipping all of high school, just junior and senior year. I'm sure he has as much social skills (given his early entry to the varsity team and his family's importance over the years at that school) as would have if he stayed.

To some degree, all star sports players at this level have abnormal social lives and are viciously spoiled whether they stay in school through graduation or not. Judging by Lonzo so far, seems to me that his kids are well adjusted.

They need improvement behind the arc as well. The closest thing they have to a threat there is Kuzma, likely a reserve. Whenever the Lakers miss a defensive assignment, it seems the result is a wide open 3 that is guaranteed good. When the Lakers get an open 3, not a very good rate of success.

As a Warrior homer, you are hereby notified to cease and desist with all further reference to Josh Richardson as J-Rich. There is only one and only J-Rich and it's Jason Richardson, aka Warrior Legend, aka, 2 time (should be 3) time dunk champion and my favorite all-time Warrior. So GTFO with that.

Haven't been able to catch either of the Warrior games but I've read that they're looking pretty lethargic and a few steps slow. I know it's only pre-season, but at some point I hope this picks up a bit. Read that in yesterday's game they started out very well in the 1st quarter but the energy and intensity faded in the next 3.

Couple things I also read were:

Swaggy looks completely lost out there. Second game in a row where he's struggled. First game they said he was lost on offense and Draymond and Iguodala had to take him to the side to go over what their philosophies were again. Good to see those guys do that though.

Damian Jones, our first round pick last year, looks like he's getting outplayed by our second round pick Jordan Bell this year. Not too concerned because it's really Jones' rookie year after being injured almost all of last year, but at some point it's going to be important for him to become a piece to this team. We can't just keep whiffing on our 1st round picks (including Looney, who I think will get cut soon).

Still early, but with limited pre-season games and having to play over in China, we could see a sluggish start to the season by the Warriors.

How many guys on the Warriors team you think smashed their banging sideline reporter Rosalyn Gold Onwude who just left for Turner sports?

Felt like she always had a vibe with Andre Iguodala, but I'm pretty sure none. She had a good rapport with all of them which leads me to believe that it's either 100% or 0. I'm guessing 0. If Klay didn't get it, none of them did.

I have to admit I wasn't high on Ros when she first joined, but she won me over. She's really good at her job and the fact she's a former player too gives her better insight into the game.

Fun story, a buddy of mine told us this story of how he was at a bbq in a park and him and his buddies go and venture over to the basketball courts. They start shooting around and a group of girls, super tall, came to the court and asked if they wanted to play. He didn't know who they were but it was the Stanford women's team. He was the shortest and had to guard Ros who was also their shortest. So first time down the court, they give the ball to her, she hits him with a cross over, step back and nailed the j in his face. His buddies all ran off the court laughing. That was when he first learned who Ros was.

Again, it takes more than a year or two of high school for kids to be "well adjusted" for life. In this case, he will probably need that experience more-so than the average teen because of all the special privilege that comes from who his family is. We don't know if they're well adjusted or not - we'll know more after they've been in the lime light for a longer period of time. If they are down to earth then good for them. But if not, watch out.

What I saw last night was the 2nd & 3rd units struggling. That is to be expected, with more rookies getting acclimated with PT. But, they were out there without any of the guys from the regular rotation. We know that won't be the case in the reg season, so not worried. I think it's good run for them though - they have to be able to get out there and get a feel for the pace of the game @ the pro level and also learn their team mates. Not worried about the regular rotation guys at all.
