In all seriousness, do any Tigers fans have any explanation for Miggy's poor season? He had a 152 wRC+ and 4.9 WAR last year, it's not like his last few seasons have been hinting at a downfall. His BABIP (.301) is well below his career norm (.345), he is striking out more often (21.2%, worst since 2004).

Steroid testing has become too tough to beat, he had to quit.

He may be hurt more than we know
He has been very vocal about Venezuela, maybe that has been on his mind
He's coming into his mid thirties ... some players start slowing down at that age
He could be having family or personal problems that we know nothing about

Either way he is not the same Miggy this year ... the seven game suspension might be a blessing for him. Either way, I have his back (as a Tiger fan), he's earned it.

Interesting stat on Cabrera. His first pitching swings are UP 30% over last year. He usually swings at the first pitch around 30+% of the time. This year his average is over 60%.
Maybe it mean it hurts to swing or maybe he is jumping on first pitch off-speed pitches, because he can't catch up to fastballs as some have noted. Maybe he wants back in the dugout quicker for a belt? Who knows?
It does piss me off that the TOP Tiger fan in baseball posts here...and he has not filled us in!!!

What a bunch of pussy homers. After the yankees. Sanchez is on tape sucker punching 2 tigers. Miggy and castelonos...both were being held by another yankee. Sanchez comes in. Goes to a knee and starts throwing punches. Cheap shots. Nobody says a word about those yankees..

Usually the worst player gets the toughest suspension. Trump is saying Cabrera was so guilty (he started the fight) that he should pay for the wall.

Doug....I finally figured out what Cabrera was pointing at in your avatar picture. He's pointing towards Venezuela where he is going to spend most of the $256 million the Tigers end of giving him. His only worry is that someone may find out that he is really 44 years old and has been using steroids since he was 16.

injuries

Salazar, Tomlin, and Kluber have all spent time on the disabled list

Brantley, Chiz and Kipnis have all spent mucho grande time on the disabled list

Miller has been hurting for a while before making his 2nd DL stint. Logan- while not a MAJOR loss- is losing your situational lefty for the majority of the season. Guyer spent significant time on the DL as well after playing hurt for a while (not that he is a major loss either- just adds up- esp. losing both sides of the platoon in Guyer and Chiz for a lot of the year).

That- and they started kinda shitty.

picking up Bruce and Smith has been helpful though as has Austin JAckson playing good ball.

A bit of a smart-ass from the AL East ... trash talking shortly after the Indians made your "Cy Young candidate" look like a batting practice pitcher.

What are you talking about? I'm clearly a Dodgers fan. Our CYA candidate(s) are on the DL right now.

Pretty sure his hard contact is still pretty good, and I read a month ago that he was having the most "unlucky" season in the majors and that he'd inevitably come back around. That clearly hasn't happened though...
