A little bit, haha. Hopefully we can get home field for the ALDS. Especially if it's Boston we have to play.

Anything can happen in the postseason, but on paper, I think we've got the easiest path to the WS of any AL team. The Astros are overrated (19-22 in the second half), and the Indians own Sale and David Price pisses his pants in the playoffs.

The Red Sox are definitely the toughest obstacle to get back.

Astros are fading down the stretch (wouldnt be shocked if they lose their ALDS matchup) and the Yankees don't really worry me this year.

Then I think you're underselling them given the rotation they could throw out there in a series (Gray-Tanaka-Severino and Sabathia if they need a 4th), and they've probably had the AL's best pitching staff in the 2nd half.

Over rated. Just saying

Anybody got Detroit's team ERA? Where does their ERA rank in the American League? Some guy on SportsHoopla claimed Detroit would win the AL Central and go on to the WS in 2017. I wonder if he ''anticipated'' their pitching staff. Oh well....he was probably just some dumb HOMER who knew nothing about baseball. He wouldn't be idiotic enough to show his face around here again. A total clown!

AAAAAAAND the Tribe officially passes the Boston Red Sox for 2nd in the East.

Have to give it to this group of guys- they have faced some adversity this year and really done well. When you have a great manager like Francona though it certainly helps.

Lets just hope they can get Kipnis, Chiz, Miller, and Salazar all back for the playoffs. The Indians will be better off later on for the depth they have developed.

Kinda brutal man...

Indians are first in the AL with a 3.60 ERA

Detroit is last in the AL with a team ERA over 5 at 5.13.....only team in the majors with a worse ERA is the Reds.

Just not the Tigers year bud. You gotta do something about that bullpen. JV, Fullmer is a solid 1 and 2...but you better hope Norris or Boyd step up next year and Zimmerman gets hit by a bus.

If somehow the Indians play the Yankees I would feel really good about the series.

Kluber pitching 2 games out of 7 against a Yanks team that really doesnt have a real ace is a nice advantage. Yanks bullpen is intimidating with Bettances and Chapman (if he could get himself figured out and healthy), and that lineup is good...

but Gray, Severino, Tanaka, Sabathia just doesnt scare you.

baseball is a screwy game, so anything can happen- but id feel really good about the Indians chances. huh @bksballer89 ?

dont ya think?

I like the Yankees rotation in a playoffs series except for CC who's been hit or miss. Tanaka been pitching like the old Tanaka for the last 10 starts, Sevy been our ACE all year, and Gray been dominant all year. Just doesn't get enough run support.

Severino isn't Sale or Kluber but he's been a top 5 starting pitcher in the AL all year long so I believe in him enough to go toe to toe with those guys. Gray and Sevy are actually 2nd and 3rd in the AL in ERA among starters since the break.

I would be worried about Severino

he is 23.

In 2014 he pitched 113 innings

In 2015 he pitched 160 innings (62 in the majors)

In 2016 he pitched 151 innings (71 in the majors)

He is already at a career high of 163 innings before the start of September- and the Yanks are gonna need him for the playoffs. Say he gets what? 4-5 more starts? say 6 innings a start- lets say a total of 25 more innings. 188 before the playoffs start...

kind of a big jump for a 23 year old...gotta wonder if that he is going to start feeling that at some point.

Well the Tribe's P rotation is just a fucking mess! I mean when was the last time a team swept a 3 game series w/o giving up a R?

I don't know if it's the most recent, but in July 2004 we swept a 3 game series against the Royals where we got 3 complete game shutouts.
