Yeah, that's fair. Its possible his response "that is #23's job" was passive-aggressive sarcasm stemming from something else. I mean even just referring to him as #23 implies that.

I certainly don't pretend to know all that might have gone into a rift between those 2. If there is a rift there is almost certainly blame to go around both ways.

I find it interesting that Irving's assists/game is down this year. Just from watching games (both years) -- I would have guessed that he'd have more assist opportunities this year. (heis usage pct is also up this year)

It might have been somewhat different if Hayward wasn't injured... as is, the C's need Irving to be a scorer first and foremost. Where is the offensive gonna come from otherwise... ?

• Tatum looks to be a promising scorer, but he's still only a 19 yo rookie who isn't a lead dog yet
• Horford is more of a secondary option and facilitator
• Who else on the C's can you even point to?

Aside from all that and any other consideration, let's just be real: scoring is what Kyrie does best.

The real jump that Kyrie has made this year is in terms of defensive effort. Whatever was the root cause of the issues in Cleveland... Kyrie seems to have brought into Boston in a new way, and the intensity in all phases of the game is just shining through more.
