From what I heard, it was the fans that dragged out the Sandusky stuff. They latched onto a 3rd hand comment and tried to destroy his reputation because they think they're getting Gruden or something. Even some idiot legislators got involved.

Worst part of it is that the 3rd hand comment was the only time his name was ever mentioned. Hundreds of hours of depositions and thousands of pages of court documents and Schiano isn't mentioned even once.
