Serena drops the 1st set.
Serena not feeling great physically, and the US Open hard courts are her 3rd worst surface. I wasn't expecting her to win the tournament, and Pliskova has a lot of game.
I'm a big Kerber fan, and am happy to see her probably take #1 (or is it for sure? i FF through commentators and watch on mute). Good for her, and good for Serena to know she's going to have to put in a lot of work to get back there.
Down goes Serena in straight sets. Disappointing but I almost expect it at this point of her career.
Still a good year in the majors even though it only resulted in 1 title. This is the only GS event where she did not make the finals this year.

Almost all tennis players feel like crap and have nagging injuries once they get to their late 20s. Thats life. Some even earlier. Play enough tennis and you will have tendinitis in at least 1 part of your body if not many.
The only thing that can get it better is time off. Even then it will come back eventually when one resumes playing on a regular basis. The human body is not designed to absorb that much torque and rotation on joints over long periods of time.
I should start watching on mute too. Listening to commentators babble and the fans cheer for double faults is irritating. The crowd again was somewhat discourteous to Pliskova. Its one thing to be noisy, its a whole other thing to be cheering not only double faults but even missed 1st serves.
I did not watch the pressers. Not interested in that stuff.
Finally the match itself was not good tennis overall. Some great points though but a lot of ugly shots and double faults.
Kerber looks to be playing cleaner of the 2 left. Seemed to have little issue with Woz. Should be interesting.
Pliskova reminds me a lot of Lindsey Davenport. Same type of physical make up and game style. TBH I really thought her twin sister would be the better of the 2. Bigger serve and a lefty.
wimbledonHow would you rank her surfaces?
Okay, things getting more normal now.
wimbledon
aussie open
us open
french
those are the only two that are even somewhat questionableMy list looks somewhat similar but I think I would swap AOno and UO
