Not always though. The worst was in 2010, with the Finals on a Monday. There were rain delays, and CBS decided that they didn't want to change their scheduled evening program.

So it was pushed to ESPN.

However, for those of us recording it, we had no idea. The match started on CBS, so one would assume that it would finish on CBS, even with rain delays.

The other problem with leading into MNF is that if a match runs long, they're going to cut into MNF. I believe this happened in 2011 or 2013. We didn't see the trophy ceremony because they wanted to show the intros to MNF. Maybe it was 2012, instead.

I remember this lol. Exactly why I'm glad this tournament is no longer on CBS. If only we can get tennis channel to get full coverage of the French, I would love the GS tv schedule

They could move the tournament up a week and finish on Labor Day.:noidea:

They can't. There's too many tourneys in between Wimbledon and the USO. Especially those as a part of the "US Open Series", which the USTA promotes. They promote it because if you win the US Open Series (most ranking points during that span), and you win the USO, you get $1M extra in prize money. If you're the runner up, I think it's $500,000 extra in prize money.

Especially with Wimbledon being pushed back by 1 week, they can't take another week out during the span in between Wimbledon and the USO.

I like the idea, but there's just other factors involved IMO.

Terrible matches today. I think I watched a total of 10 minutes. Really hope the matches tomorrow are better. I think Wawrinka and JDP should deliver. Not sure about Murray and Kei.

Very surprised they gave JDP and Stan the night match. Thought for sure that would be Andy Murray

Yeah, Wawrinka and JDP should have a lot of tense moments.

I'm surprised too.

However, that's probably going to be the more competitive match, so it will be better for the night session fans.

He wasn't even broken in that match too, if I'm correct.

Gael only waited 8 years before he started getting serious about tennis. He could have been making it depp in Majors and probably even won at least 1 if he had done so when he was younger.

The trend of terrible matches from yesterday has carried over into today. Routine 6-2 first set for Pliskova

Kei wins. What a match. Down 2 sets to 1 and came back to beat the best tennis player this summer. Great job Kei.

Unless Monfils beats Novak, I'll be rooting for whoever makes the final from the side of the draw ( Kei or the winner of Stan/JDP)

Nishikori is too feeble to win a slam, IMO. He gives everything he has just to get the semis. He'll be a shell of what he was today for the rest of the tournament.

Shame that Murray wasn't good enough to get through.

Oh well.
