Figured we might want to get this started.

Some tune ups are taking place currently in Winston-Salem & New Haven.

Qualifying started yesterday, and outside of the French, this is definitely my favorite tournament.

The French is last on my list. US Open & Wimbledon are my two favorites.

Watching Nadal on clay is tennis **** to me. I also lived in France and have actually seen a match qualifier while there.

French, US/Wimblemdon, Aussie

Going to be my first time since 2013 that I'll not be attending the Open.

Oh man, I want to get up there sometime, but it's just a bit of a flight/hotel and I'm too lazy to prepare for all that during this stage of my life.

I'm tempted to go but since they changed the schedule last year since I'm working on Friday and CFB starts that Saturday. Usually I love going to the Mens/Womens 3rd round on Sunday because there are so many matches to attend on the outside courts with ground pass. Last year I forgot the schedule changed and attended the Sunday before Labor Day but it was not as fun as there were basically only single matches on 3 courts and only 2 if you had grounds pass as I did. Only good thing is I was able to see Novak on Armstrong.

I don't think I have been since 2001. I bought a shirt and saw Agassi lose to Sampras in the quarterfinals. I think that is when I saw Federer playing on one of the side courts

Wasn't able to get Friday off. Too late to request it. I feel like the first Friday/Saturday is the best day to be there. You get to see a ton of matches on the outside courts and there's a lot of competitive matches as it is the 3rd round at that point. I can't do Saturday because I need to be home enjoying opening day of CFB so Friday was my only option

You're sure though one of the years you attended, you saw Federer, right?

What about Sunday or Monday (Labor Day)?

Not enough action for grounds pass tickets IMO. There are only single matches taking place on 2 other courts during the round of 16 which is what's taking place those days

Seeds are out for the US Open. The highest seeded American Man is Stevie Johnson at #19. Isner is 20, Sock is 26, and Querrey is 29.

So that means there's 4 courts total which have singles matches, right? Two of which require reserved seating and are excluded from grounds pass (Arthur Ashe Stadium; Louis Armstrong Stadium).

And 2 courts which are included in grounds passes, right? (Grandstand and Courts 4 - 17, whatever courts the matches are scheduled on).

Just trying to make sure I understand the setup.

What was your (anyone who has attended) favorite live day of attending the US Open, ever, and what matches stood out that day?

That seems like Isner's lowest ranking in years.

For me it was labor day before they changed the schedule. You get to see Mens 3rd round and Womens round of 16 action. The schedule change is a real bummer

Only Ashe is excluded from grounds pass. However you can buy reserve seating for Armstrong or Grandstand if you wanted to avoid the first come first serve process which is how grounds pass works. But yeah basically grounds pass gets you access to every court except for Ashe so if you attend the US Open from opening Monday thru Saturday, its really worth much more than the price of admission up until the round of 16 when you think about all the tennis matches you can see. After the 3rd round is completed (which is now on Saturday I believe), you're probably better off getting a ticket to Ashe for round of 16 action. Grounds Pass is really a let down IMO if you're going during the round of 16 because you really only have access to Armstrong and Grandstand.

i think we seen the best of Isner. He is 31 so I think its all downhill from this point on. We're better off focusing on Sock (23 years old), Johnson (26 years old), and the young guns at this point.
