I might add Stallings is the better offensive catcher of the two they had in AAA.
Lost 10 of their last 11 as of yesterdays beatdown by the Cubs.
I wonder if this losing streak continues if it costs Hurtle his head coaching job at some point???
Not saying it is but he could become a fall guy in an attempt to shake them out of their slump. For the record, I don't think Hurdle should be the fall guy during the season and I expect the Pirates to get hot soon. Clutch has been a slow starter the last few seasons before catching on fire and raising his offensive numbers to his norm. When he finally gets hot I expect the rest of the team to get hot too.Guys who have been performing for the past few years aren't. That's not on Hurdle. And really, normal Cutch and Frankie and Watson would have this team in a much better spot than they're in, despite the team's shortcomings.
Don't forget the dumpster fire at catcher since Cervelli went on the DL.As much as none of this is on Hurdle I wouldn't be surprised if a change doesn't occur. Tonight might be rock bottom.
But it is killer when your best player is in a season long slump, your top pitcher is on the DL, your second best pitcher is struggling and the bullpen is utter garbage.
Man just imagine if they had this offense last year?
Crap there is so much going bad with this team I totally forgot about that.Don't forget the dumpster fire at catcher since Cervelli went on the DL.
Is Erik Kratz the worst player in MLB? I mean with the injuries, what can you do? Stallings may or may not be better. I guess Jaso is done as a catcher. Be nice to use this as a 4 to 5 game sample of Bell at first with Jaso/Stallings/Kratz at catcher. If they're going to suck at least make it fun.
It could be taken that way but Hurdle has always given his veterans days off. Although both on the same night makes it appear like they threw in the towel.Crap there is so much going bad with this team I totally forgot about that.
As for tonight did they throw in the towel on purpose by giving McCutchen and Marte the night off?
Just saw Marte is listed as day-to-day with an injury of some kind. So, that's why he was off last night. Haven't found anything on what the injury is yet.Crap there is so much going bad with this team I totally forgot about that.

Of all places found this on a fantasy baseball site:Just saw Marte is listed as day-to-day with an injury of some kind. So, that's why he was off last night. Haven't found anything on what the injury is yet.
They got to do something to jolt McCutchen out of his slump.Of all places found this on a fantasy baseball site:
Pirates' Starling Marte: Leaves Tuesday with foot discomfort
Looks like a minor foot injury and yeah that would explain both out at the same time.
As for McCutchen they are even thinking of giving him an extended time off.
The four innings weren't bad but still getting anything from that deal made it a steal since Snider came back after.Probably just a spot start. He'll probably not start more than two games.
Taillon to the DL, likely so they can rest him and keep his innings down without having to option him to AAA.
