The easiest solution to tanking is to put all 14 non-playoff teams into the bowl and have the gerbil (or Bill Daly) pull them out of the bowl. I suppose you could also have the Edmonton clause that states that you cannot pick in the top 5 of this year's draft if you picked 1st overall last draft.

I wasnt even looking at it from the league wide level. Im thinking of the optics locally. Frankie still wants to sell tickets to the suckers for the remainder of this season

Sabres Dman Mike Weber to Caps for 2017 3rd round pick, Sabres retain half of salary.

Makes me wonder if canucks asked hamhuis to waive and he vetoed a trade to the caps (who were apparently sniffing around thanks to his past with trotz in nashville)

Ah yes, I understand. I'm thinking the majority of Canucks fans are sophisticated enough to realize this season is done like dinner.

Most people who attend canucks games are idiots :bolt:

Actually the easiest solution is to have a corrupt commish who can rig the lottery as he sees fit. You want the top pick, pony up the cash and promise for future favors. You have your marquee market in the lottery - you make damn well sure they win that lottery, whether you freeze the envelope, ping pong balls, or by some other method. C'mon man, David Stern was your mentor.
Man, I was counting on this last year. With that story about the Leafs' final ball getting stuck in the trap just as the Edmonton one went in I half-believe that they actually did try to get McDavid to Toronto but being the NHL they fucked it up.

Clearly wants to come back home to Pittsburgh. He was so stellar during his few days here. Or was it hours?

This needs to happen. Seriously. If EDM gets the first pick AGAIN, it will be a travesty.

Weren't the Pens interested in Kris Russell at last year's trade deadline?

I'd actually rather see some kind of relegation-type tournament where the non-playoff teams play it out for draft position. Or some variation on that like most points after the deadline among non-playoff teams.

EDIT: the PA would never go for the first option so that's likely off the table.

I really dont know if Hamhuis will waive to go anywhere other than San Jose, LA or Anaheim (to play with the 2 former canuck, still d-bags) mostly because he is Mr Family Dan, Mr Community Dan, Mr Christian Dan and doesnt want to go that far from family or uproot them ... I guess maybe Chicago and Dallas have been the most interested in him sending multiple scouts to see him play

Botchford had an interesting thing the other day ... He will feel it if he chooses not to waive ... being from PG/Smithers ... Its not like a Sundin thing where he went back to Sweden the offseason after he didnt waive his NTC at the deadline ... Hamhuis will go home and he will hear it from the canucks fans in Prince George :noidea:

I think you gotta be of a certain demographic to know that tune, I mean I don't even think pix was born when that song topped the charts.

/Of course, if you have seen the movie 'Boogie Nights', you would know it.

Well there goes 20 mintues of work time spent trying to find a gif of the boy throwing firecrackers from that scene. A failed effort by the way.
